People who whine about rushing...
need to quit whining and improve their strategy.
Rushing doesn't always work. It is a risk. If you defeat the rush, you come out ahead economically. If the rush beats you, you come out behind. A rush isn't "cheap." It's a tactic that works or doesn't depending on the skill level of your opponent.
Instead of whining, try:
1. LLT's. They will waste level 1 units
2. Radar and good use of your commander. When the rush comes, he's there with his d-gun.
If you can't manage to master rush defeating tactics, learn to lose gracefully, and QUIT YER WHINING. Or only play "epic" maps.
edit: I'm talking about XTA here.

Most people confuse "rushing" and "raiding" as well. Rushing is an entire strategy, whereby you completely convert your economy into pumping out masses of one units. Such players are always easy to defeat, because they are very predictable, and once you know how to crush their rushing unit (such as the flash), that player won't be able to win again. They just keep feeding you metal for your economy, while bunkrupting their own.
Raiding is a fundamental part of the game, and is inherently linked up with the expansionist nature of the game. If you aren't raiding, or don't know how to respond to a raid, then you've never really played TA, or Spring.

Doomweaver, as Storm said, you just have to learn how to use the Dgun.
If a unit is travelling fast, and it takes a while for the Dgun weapon to reach its target, then you have to aim in front of the target, so that both weapon and unit collide at the same time. Its just a skill that you have to learn.

Sometimes, we play against people that, when we arrive to they're base with some 5 flashes, have some 4 solars and 6 metal makers.
That ain't even funny for us and especially for them. And i ain't even considering having 2 scouts harasing the base, constantly running away from the comm that in dispair starts demolishing his own base with the D-Gun
.
Many newbie players (all?) really need to learn how to play TA.
Some nice tutorials would be very valuable so they won't get pounded that much hard and maybe even eventually quit playing TA::Spring

alot of maps have natural rush preventors, like choke points, i built abase once there were two passable placesin the land i put some dragon teeth up, so while i focused on some advanced ships and aircraft, the rush came with my few stumpies and llts the rush sat at my dragon teeth wall and just looked at my juicy lightly defended base just out of their reach.
Cmon rushing is totally fun. Without it would be just a stupid game who builds the most stuff and wins. Rushing is about trying to kill someone as soon as possible. I like it. Besides it is quite easy to defend against. On an air first map make sure you get a defender up quick. On a land map dgun the dreaded units.
yeah but if you don't counter-rush then their comm helps build generally offsetting the spare metal u get form the corpses (i learnt to rush the hard way :)) especially late game. also raiding enemy metal is not HALF as good as killing off their solars (if they r windgens even better!) coz then they can't dgun/build/extract/use MM/use radar :D THAT is a blow
