Why is Linux SpringLobby so unstable?

Post by Dragon45 »

When I start up the client it takes about twenty seconds to go from blank weird springlobby window to actually showing the status of everytihng. i think its connecting in this time but im not sure.

also i was trying to test my setup with some singleplayer and the darn thing close-crashes on me half the time when i try and do anything through the singleplayer buttons, just selecting maps and stuff.

i thought there was a python linux lobby around at some point?

I am using version 0.0.1.10265 and have experienced no crashes, maybe you need an update?

Although when i click the cross it takes a while for the program to exit, that is my only annoyance.

Ps. that is a ridiculous version number.

0.0.1 = version number
10 = prefix reserved to reflect buildsystem changes (like moving buildbot)
265 = continuous buildnumber produced by our buildbot

makes perfect sense from a developer point of view ;-)

as for the long closing time, you're using sl with torrent support i'm guessing?
this is then explained by necessary cleanup operations that enables sl to resume torrents and such. if you have chat logging enabled, that contributes too
