People who sign their posts

Post by SpikedHelmet »

Are losers.

No, really. There seems to be some growing popularity with people signing off their posts with their name.

The funniest part is all of them seem to do it for the same reason. "Oh, I'm just used to it, from my years of posting on BBS boards decades ago when the internet was young."

Yeah, bullshit. Most of you fucking people are like 15 years old; your oldest memories of the internet are downloading Britney Spears' premier album from Napster.

You're all a bunch of wankers who just do it because you think it makes you unique and adds some artificial, shallow level of intellectual depth to your otherwise insignificant internet lives. But when the rest of these sheep catch on and start doing it themselves, and suddenly every 10 year old with a keyboard starts claiming they remember the internet in the 80s, what will you do then?

You will die.

Well I sign my posts too on some forums. Might have something to do with me being a mod there and the fact I meet lots of "new people" with questions on a to more or less "serious basis" so this somehow creates a bit of a friendly atmosphere imo. Although to be true the main reason to continue with it probably is having it done for a couple of years now...

I also think stuff in signatures with images about what cool hardware vendors you like and which software you use is way more intimidating. What's your problem with people signing their posts anyway?

Not counting people who have signatures that make sure that nothing they post will be bigger than their signature, signatures waste a few lines evertime someone posts. Beside, thats why nicks are for! :)

there are few forums where signatures become 400x400px spam image about crap with dragons and heroes fighting bad people and you can't even see what they are writting because the thread is full of 2word post with a 400px height signature

Dear SpikyHelmetguy,

It has come to my attention you dislike people who sign forum posts!
I'm just writing to let you know I agree wholeheartedly.

Yours in love,

To be fair... our forums are the one that doesn't acctually have forum signatures. But to also be fair, forum signatures generally get filled with crap that have nothing to do with a signature.

Which is why location lines make such nice signatures. Short, to the point, and don't lengthen the page.

There are some forums I'm on that some people legitimately sign their posts.

These forums are generally mature, real name-basis, adult (not like that you pervs) forums about real-world stuff having nothing to do with games.

On game forums I agree, people who sign their posts have overinflated egos.

I figure if they really wanted to be hardcore, they would emulate pre-internet standards, rather than inflated signatures at the bottom, where most people never look because the average post is proven unimportant three lines in.

Real email pro's sign even when it's clearly obvious who they are in the "from" dialog.
