Re: Oblivion.
I used to play Oblivion with about 110 mods.
Heres what you want. Now these mods are abit general
Vegetation Mod (All plant life is HUEG)
Night Light's Mod (Buildings give off light in the night)
Dark Night Mod (The night becomes pitch black)
Texture Mod (Makes things alot prettier)
High-Res Book Mod (Book textures are like 1600x1200 making them look fantastic)
OBSE - Oblivion Script Extender
* Bullettime mod (needs OBSE)
Colored Map Mod
Keychain Mod
Crowded Roads Mod + More people mods (adds color and variety to your adventuring)
Enchanted Weapon Mod (ex, Fire Enchants give the weapon a flame)
Death Star Mod (The largest Moon orbiting TES becomes the Death Star)
Oblivion Profile Manager
Oblivion Mod manager
Legendary Mastery (exact name)
No Psychic Gaurds (exact name)
Natural Environments (exact name)
5075-1.0-LOD Combine Blade9722 and Zacharot-TESSource (LOD mods)
Real lava (exact name, and is a MUST)
Gorier Blood Mod
*cant remember exact name, but its a Mod where it multiplies all the enemies so instead of running into 1 lion, you run into a pack.
*mod which gives you like a container within your backpack so you never run out of space
GUI mods are a must
I wouldn't go for any complete overhaul mods. Just go for the eye candy mods and the gameplay mods.

Re: Oblivion.
What you really want to look at is Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBKjLxVJKRg
This is the biggest Oblivion mod out there that I know of. It replaces the level up system with a traditional static system so enemies don't level up with you. Additionally, item placement is fixed, new quests have been added, new items have been added, and new creatures have been added.

Re: Oblivion.
I still play oblivion with a few mods. I suppose its easiest to load my data file list real quick...
capes and cloaks; adds said objects, ur char looks cooler
deadly reflex; CUT OFF HEADS AND HANDS AND SPLIT BODIES!! (epic)
illumination within; buildings look like the lights are on inside from the outside at night
myths and legends; i havent actually used this one yet, but it adds a few extra weapons that you get through quests
natural environments; (repeat from above)
ren's beauty pack; sounds lame but it's extra hair meshes... they look way better than the vanilla oblivion ones.
I was going to try out some of the Unique Landscapes mods, they look pretty cool but I haven't played them yet. I also highly suggest getting used to the construction set and making your own mods, you can do anything really.
oh i go to http://www.tesnexus.com for mods too

Re: Oblivion.
I think the entire universe isnt too much fun...its kinda dull imo.
So i was never really interested in playing the story itself out
plus i dont like their system of character development.
The only thing I like about oblivion is that its an open world game.
Id love to play a game like that but that is more dynamic than oblivion...besides the quests, nothing really changes through time...which is boring imo.

Re: Oblivion.
Ya, Oblivion is nothing compared to Morrowind. Besides the crappy leveling scheme, I really hate how almost all of oblivion looks pretty much exactly the same. Morrowind had all kinds of weird/different architecture and environments to check out but all of Oblivion is basically the same besides slightly different buildings, snow, swamps, and forested/not forested areas or the painfully repetitive realm of Oblivion with some Ayelid ruins and caves thrown about which are interesting for a whole thirty minutes. The game ends up feeling like EA made it; 'ok guys, pop this out as fast as possible so we can sell some copies.'
But I played Morrowind until there was hardly anything left to do, so playing it again is boring and Oblivion is all I've got. Hopefully if they make a TES5 they spend time on it and make something awesome. Customization and lots of dynamic stuff the player can change would be great.
If you search moddb for Oblivion stuff, theres some german TC Nehrim or something like that which isn't out yet but looks AMAZING.
edit: nvm on it being abandoned, the team already made TWO total conversions for Morrowind and their work is exceptional; this TC looks wayyyy better than Oblivion itself. check it out http://www.nehrim.gamefacts.biz/indexEV.html.
edit2: oh and the mod Lost Spires is cool, but it requires a high level character and I haven't played it yet (my char is high enough just lazy).

Re: Oblivion.
morrowind had no forested area. it was all blasted lands and the most lush area was a shitty shitty swamp.

Re: Oblivion.
I didn't like morrowind. It was SLOWWWW...
Re: Oblivion.
Morrowind had intresting special dungeons with nice unique artifacts in them. And Indiana Jones iirc. Oblivion is just the same level-based crap you find anywhere. What's the point of going into hidden unexplored dungeons, if there will be nothing special there?
Most importantly, Maiq sucks in TES4.
And no scrolls of icarian flight either.
Nor levitation or teleportation spells.

Re: Oblivion.
oblivion fails compared to morrowid i tried it out with some of the best mods and stuff and it still fails it just dusnt feel like morrowind. It looks nice and stuff but i got instantly bored
In morrowind with all the cool addons i would start find the dude with the jump scrolls clear the dungeons near the start then i could go anywere quite early on and make my own story
Oblivion makes me feel like im on a linear path and i dont feel i have much freedom (maybe if i play more it maybe different)
But overall Oblivion doesnt have that opening hook that morrowind has
and the tutorial is annoying :/

Re: Oblivion.
I found morrowind less interesting. I got off the boat in morrowind at the city and wonder why no one cared about who the prisoner was and why he was released. Oh hey guys, I am some random guy you have never seen before, thanks for welcoming me into your home, oh and I am a convict.. wait you don't know that, even though the douche who released me is here oh and I came in a big boat obviously full of criminal potential.Otherside wrote: Oblivion makes me feel like im on a linear path and i dont feel i have much freedom (maybe if i play more it maybe different)
In oblivion, some guards let me loose, the king dies and I am cut loose on some mission but right after leaving the sewers, I find a sewer grate next to a well in a large city, I kill the occupants and use the outside log as my drug store, I now resume criminal activities leaving at day as an herbalist collecting flowers. By night, I steal from peoples homes and kill people. Who questions the guy walking around town selling salves right? I even have a little house on the water and I openly converse with my future victims to such a degree that they see me fondly.
That was one of my personas in obliv. In morrowind, I felt that there was little interaction, the best reactions I could get were by being naked or a vampire. I had few people greeting me in the streets, few smiling faces and frankly the repetitive caves and ocasional weird but equally dull shit ruins. In oblivion, I found myself eventually going to new towns seeking new victims and along the way finding dens of thieves. I eventually found that douche who wanted the amulet and he told me go see some people. at which point I found myself in a litteral hell world with crazy monsters.
Both games have limited equipment selection. Morrowind was dull and drab. Like a shitty raven loft without all the neat scary things. The combat system was idiotic stand and poke, wait for hit and miss stats to show on screen. In oblivion I get to fight and if I actually move, the fight can actually go even better. I am sad about the loss of some skills(like enchantment) but frankly oblivion offers a better combat system and the npcs give more interaction.
Re: Oblivion.
yes i agree on the combat and the npc's being better in oblivion also it looks way nicer but... morrowind just felt better cant explain why really
and yeh the fact a ton of skills are missing sucks
(feels more dumbed down)

Re: Oblivion.
Both oblivion and morrowind are shit in that respect.
People dont react to you at all.
In that other game who's name i dont recall tha tu have an open world but u cant choose urcharacter it is given to you and the story is about a trapped area under some magical bubble.
Its a famous series has 3 parts.
There people would tell you to leave there ghouse and hold grudges.
The reaction to the player is much more realistic there in oblivio nand morowind itsjust falt out dumb and lazy .

Re: Oblivion.
I thought gothic sucked so bad not even gothic fans wanted to play it.
Re: Oblivion.
Uhh, I have all 3 Gothic games (plus the expansion for 2), and I love them.
