Broken Links on Download Page
Hi; I hate for my first post on a fourm to be a complaint, But I thought you should know that the Download Page is out of date, and has been for at least a month. I tried to get a new version back then, but the link was dead so I decided to just play Dwarf Fortress until someone fixed it. As I said, A month later and I still can get no life out of unknown-files.net. I understand that about a month ago there was some downtime while the servers where being moved, perhaps someone forgot to turn them back on?
Just so you know I'm not kidding, this is the link I'm clicking on, on the downloads tab right up there /\ . http://www.unknown-files.net/spring/392 ... installer/
I hope that something gets done, because think of all the new people who could have downloaded this great game, but gave up after none of the links worked... Just to be clear, the other main download link does work, from Spring.Clan-sy.com.
Nice fourm software, by the way; I run my own and use a slightly simpler version of phpbb at http://www.nowherepublishing.com.

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
So, to put it simply: Does Unknown-Files.net exist anymore? Hello? Where should I go to get maps now?
Re: Broken Links on Download Page
Ah, thank you. I am very glad that was not a Rickroll...
I'm curious; will the main page get updated someday, so that new users aren't lost on the internet like I was?
Again, thanks for the help. I feel so stupid not to have checked for a FAQ.

I removed the UF download links earlier today.

The next step is to remove them all from TASclient.Tobi wrote:I removed the UF download links earlier today.

Seriously though, it's covered with them. It's naturally very confusing to new users when all the Lobby links are broken.

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
This has been fixed in the latest (beta) version of TASClient. They link to jobjol now.

Oh, snap that was fast!
Re: Broken Links on Download Page
This may be a repetitive question on this forum, but when can we expect the current beta to make it into a stable release?
And, for the average user, is there any need, or benefit in using the beta, or is this beta like all other software betas.. :/

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
The development builds are basically there so users can test them and report problems they've found with them or for content devs to ensure compatibility of their mods with the new versions (or to have upcoming features implemented at the time of a stable release)... typically the only time you'd want, as an end user, to try out the pre-release builds is when they are working towards a new release and post in the news that they are having a pre-release test day on the dev server. You will not be able to connect to the main server if you are using a build-bot checkout of the installer... for the record I think all of our versions are still considered beta by most peoples standards.

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
I know our release numbers don't reflect it... but I'd say spring is currently at the point where we have stable builds. You could call spring complete right now.
Re: Broken Links on Download Page
spring is still crashy swift. I have been randomly booted from time to time. Not as much as in the old days but still.
