How do i get 3DO textures to show up properly on my 3DO models? Whenever I "apply" a texture to a model it just turns white. Its not having a problem finding the textures because I'm able to open and display completed models just fine. Even if I apply a texture to a face in a completed model it turns white though. Any Ideas?
It only seems to happen with certain textures.

Re: Upspring Question
I've had that problem before. Save the model, re-open it. Does this still recur?
I should also note, too, that using UpSpring for .3DOs is a royal pain, because you must have the textures named two different ways, or you will get all sorts of interesting errors in Spring.

Re: Upspring Question
Yeah it is a pain but I cant use 3DO builder because my save files get corrupted. I've spend hours working on a model in 3do builder only to come back later and find only 1/3 the "pieces" still exist. This only seems to happen on my new PC, i used 3DO builder for years on my old one and never had a problem.Argh wrote: using UpSpring for .3DOs is a royal pain
saving and re-opening fixed it, thanks argh. problem is now i have to save and re-open every time i want to see the changes...
has anyone had similar problems with 3DO builder and been able to fix them? Its what I'd prefer to use.
Re: Upspring Question
now all upspring needs is a "apply to entire object" function....
Re: Upspring Question
Um, firstly, are you using 3DO Builder, or 3DO Builder+? People have reported lots of issues with + (I haven't had them, personally, in XP). You might want to use the older version, it's not quite as neato but it works, for stuff like simple fills...
Re: Upspring Question
I've tried both, and tried running them using various "compatibility" types.
I think this solves my problem though, thanks. I'll just export .obj instead of .lwo and deal with Upspring.

Re: Upspring Question
Is the upspring source code released? I'd like to add a simple feature to add a specific number of objects. My current models have 50+ objects and its really a paint to have to sit there and number them through.

Re: Upspring Question
Well Upsring really sucks for 3dos and you shouldn't use it for that. What I do is importing my .obj files in Upspring and place the origins there too. Then save it as 3do and do the rest in 3dobuilder...
The reason why you shouldn't use Upspring for the rest is that it doesn't apply the textures properly (i.e. some specific textures aren't applied right and result in a strange effect showing a "collection" of all the textures on that face). You also can't add a groundplate which will make one of your faces invisible. Another thing are problems when adding empty objects in Upspring (which should be the reason for the disappearing parts in 3dobuilder):
If you put your object together in Upspring, texture it in 3dobuilder, load the 3do in Upspring to place some empty objects and then redo the groundplate in 3dobuilder you'll have a file that works correct but Upspring won't be able to open it (gives an error message) until you remove the empty objects. As I said this also is somehow connected to the missing object parts. I mostly encountered this in combination with some empty objects...
EDIT:
Here an old picture of mine showing that Upspring texture effect on an entire model:

Re: Upspring Question
Sauce is included in the install (if you select it) iirc.Sheekel wrote:Is the upspring source code released? I'd like to add a simple feature to add a specific number of objects. My current models have 50+ objects and its really a paint to have to sit there and number them through.
