In my break from Spring I was thinking about some of the problems that come up when playing spring and how we can improve. What happens often is on larger maps you will be microing some army far off from your base, but in the meantime your base is getting behind command-wise, and you have to ackwardly flip in between these areas of the map in order to issue commands before it gets too late.
What if we put a secondary window in spring for this, so your main screen could be focused on one thing, while the window would be inactive and possibly focused on your base so you can issue build commands while in fight.

Use two screens and mod ctrlpanel.txt. LordMatt did this in a way.

Or just queue stuff on the minimap. If you know where your units are, you know which dot is a con and can just select him and queue stuff. This is of course much easier on a full screen minimap as I have. OTA had something where you could save some screen positions as like F5-F8 using ctrl or alt. You might see if this works in spring or not.

beherith made (or modified) a lua widget for this, i think he posted it up here on the forums. It saves camera positions, and you can switch between em.

Make large queue for builders, put your labs on repeat and use the factory guard widget.

All of you have good points, but having a second screen feels a lot better in terms of actually playing.
I always liked it in Supreme Commander that I could be looking at two parts of the same battle and co-ordinating easily that way.
So I wouldn't say it's necessary, but it definitely is cool, and useful.

Its all about planning.
Sometimes you have time to plan so if you know ur gonna go on an attack make long queues and than send your troops in.

Is a split screen layout possible? Can I do this with ctrlpanel.txt? Can I do this with luazors?
