Replay file info = crap
Replays should be stamped with the start time of the game and the duration. It should also be sorted by date. Its pretty meaningless to have:
Cometcatcher300108- 0
Cometcatcher300108- 1
Cometcatcher300108- 2
Cometcatcher300108- 3
Cometcatcher300108- 4
Cometcatcher300108- 5
Cometcatcher300108
For starters, the first game is at the bottom, then its descended by time from the top. You also have to work out how many of those games are failed starters, then check through which of the "real" games is actually the one you want to watch.
Also, players and specs should be differentiated somehow, if there are 10 specs and 2 players for several games, you dont have a clue whos playing in each!

Re: Replay file info = crap
Sorting by date can already be done by clicking the "modified on" column in the explorer.
Re: Replay file info = crap
But it's annoying to do it manually every time you want to check your replays!Tobi wrote:Sorting by date can already be done by clicking the "modified on" column in the explorer.
Anyway, what if you loose your dates? For example, when you burn your files on CD (DVD) their "modified" date is changed. Then you no longer can sort them by date...
IMHO, the best way to stamp replays would be good old method: adding number in front of the file, and number+1 in every new.
Instead of having:
Code: Select all

Re: Replay file info = crap
One of the most annoying things about the Explorer is that it remembers folder options at random, if at all. Which is why I don't use it.

Re: Replay file info = crap
Actually thats because Explorer only saves it for so many folders. If you add an option for one folder it shifts all the others along until one falls off on the other end and is 'forgotten'. This way explorer didn't have to keep track of them all and was speeded up and had a smaller memory footprint
I assume this feature was removed in either XP or Vista as it was unnecessary considering the improved cpu and ram of modern machines. I cannot find a setting anywhere to change this in Vista or any indication its still there.

I think Lupus is on the right track here... could some sort of header be added for time played at GMT in the name, or at least a sorting number?
Re: Replay file info = crap
It discards the sorting options, even if I set it for all subdirectories etc. It's been doing that ever since, it worked at some point, then stopped working again and then I switched over to TC and never used the Explorer again.Satirik wrote:no what do you mean about explorer ?imbaczek wrote:Satirik: total commander.

No it doesn't...
Tools > folder options >apply this folder setting to all folders.

Re: Replay file info = crap
Yeah and that never worked on 2k or XP for me.
