Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
base/otacontent.sdz
base/tacontent_v2.sdz
base/tatextures_v062.sdz
those files i didnt have from fresh install, so the lack of those gave me several crashes while trying to load official lobby client, also they made me out of sync when joining in battle.

So if you are out of sync or you keep crashing at the lobby client, just copy those files to /base/ folder from your older spring version.

0.76b1 doesn't install OTA content if you don't install any mods that depend on them in the installer. If you tell the installer to install BA or XTA, then you'll have no problems, and most new players will do that.
The game or the lobby clients really should have a way to inform you of that though, or at least not crash the lobby client over a few unplayable maps.

Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
yeah, i didnt choose any mods to be installed, because i wanted the install be as fast as possible
maybe at next version it should install ota content too?
maybe at next version it should install ota content too?
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
No it shouldn't install that by default when there's no need for it, as that'd require everyone downloading Spring to legally own Total Annihilation, and the earlier release showed that seperate free and not free releases was a bad idea.TradeMark wrote:yeah, i didnt choose any mods to be installed, because i wanted the install be as fast as possible

Mod developers should inform players that OTA content is required.
Probably should have a seperate checkbox for OTA content in the installer though.
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
So i have to install BA or XTA for spring to work?(any mod)
Lol only way to play this is to install illegal files(for me)

Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
You only need to install those mods if you want to play them, other mods that don't depend on OTA content (most mods) do not require BA or XTA to be installed.frab26 wrote:So i have to install BA or XTA for spring to work?(any mod)

Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
Whew.
Um, does STWA require the original base files?(this'll be my last OTA question

Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
well, i didnt want to download any mods, because i already had all mods.ZellSF wrote:No it shouldn't install that by default when there's no need for it,
i just wanted it to be fast as possible -> i just wanted to update spring engine.
should be informed that when you dont install any OTA content including mods, it will cause errors.
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
But it won't, unless you want to play maps or mods that rely on OTA content, which should specify so.
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
Well you could have used the upgrade functionality of the installer and the carefully chosen default options when you do, and had no problem at all...TradeMark wrote:well, i didnt want to download any mods, because i already had all mods.ZellSF wrote:No it shouldn't install that by default when there's no need for it,

whaat, there is upgrade function? didnt notice...LordMatt wrote:Well you could have used the upgrade functionality of the installer and the carefully chosen default options when you do, and had no problem at all...
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
Maybe you could have it that there is a check box that is available called "OTA Content" and it gets lock-checked if you try to download a mod that needs the files but you can also manually check it if your like TradeMark and just want to get them for another purpose...
Re: Spring 0.76b1 doesnt offer ota content anymore = crash
Download and run the installer and it upgrades you to the next version. Rerun the installer any time you want to upgrade to the newest version of some mod.TradeMark wrote:whaat, there is upgrade function? didnt notice...LordMatt wrote:Well you could have used the upgrade functionality of the installer and the carefully chosen default options when you do, and had no problem at all...
That is kind of hard to maintain for some installer coding reasons.SinbadEV wrote: Maybe you could have it that there is a check box that is available called "OTA Content" and it gets lock-checked if you try to download a mod that needs the files but you can also manually check it if your like TradeMark and just want to get them for another purpose...
