Re: What did you get! Consumerism-mas!!!!
My Consumerism-mas season isn't over till I celebrate with my family on the 5th but so far:
Books:
Terry Pratchett - Going Postal and Thud
Games:
Wii:
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Edition
Mario Galaxy
PS2:
Some crazy ball game and a crossword game that my wife bought for herself and "gave" to me.
Movies:
Cocoon and the sequel as a 2 disk set (wife found out I'd never seen em)
Clothing:
Black Shirt that says "meh."
Black Shirt that says "I don't finish anyth"
Black Shirt that says "If it's too loud, Your too old" with a picture of an electric guitar
Some Underwear and a pair of pajamas
Candy (Including a box of magical elves... chocolate with pop-rocks in it)
A Digital Camera my friend had upgraded from.
Hot chocolate... lot's of it... (my aunt didn't know what to get me)
The Rubik's Revolution talking electronic game... I was surprised that it doesn't actually work like a Rubik's cube... but you play games by pressing colored buttons... a bit like old Simon or Wizard electronic toys.
A 2 GB memory card for my PSP, and a 1GB usb thumb drive.
That's all I can remember.

My parents got me an xbox 360, which I'm pretty excited about since the last console I owned was a Nintendo 64, which was almost a decade ago.

That's a pretty big gap, you skipped an entire generation. What games do you have?Erom wrote:My parents got me an xbox 360, which I'm pretty excited about since the last console I owned was a Nintendo 64, which was almost a decade ago.

Re: What did you get! Consumerism-mas!!!!
I got COH: Opposing Fronts, Civ 4: Beyond the Sword, Gears of Wars for the PC, about 150$ from my Grandparents, Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Adventure, and a busted laptop from God.
Thanks God. I really needed my laptop broken...
Also, Relative, I bought Atlas Shrugged and found quite a few allusions to it in Bioshock, because Bioshock can basically be described as "Atlas Shrugged with Guns."
Except Bioshock is fun...and Atlas Shrugged is 1000 pages of pure Objectavist drivel.

YOu might wanna skip on Opposing fronts.
If you don't mind waiting a week to play the damn game every time they patch it, go right ahead and play, otherwise, it's probably not worth it. Also, they patch it every 4 or 5 days.

Too late. I've already gotten through most of Operation Market Garden and look forward to the British campaign.BlackLiger wrote:YOu might wanna skip on Opposing fronts.

I never liked the original Company of Heroes campaign...but the German one has been very fun and interested.
I find it strange people are complaining about patches...mostly people complain about there not being ENOUGH patches, but now that we're getting lots of patches, people complain about there being too MANY patches.
It strikes me as strange...
I'm glad they're making so many patches. Sure, you have to download them, but they're fixing problems with the game. How is that a bad thing?

Books:
QI's book on general ignorance
Foodstuffs:
Lots of chocolate
Electronicy stuff:
Mobile Mobile Phone Recharger (yes, you read that correctly)
A little tiny version of space invaders you attach to a keychain
[strikeout]Something else[/strikeout]
A brainteaser kit thing
Monies:
Lots, including some from my parents which they haven't given me yet
Other:
My brother's gamecube (hand-me-down), albiet sans memory cards or controllers, so it's a bit useless at current. I'm sure I'll have lots of fun playing it on my TV That Can't Display The Colour Red For No Apparent Reason

Not to mention its a work of non-fiction pretending to be a work of fiction. It's good to know about libertarian theory, but Ayn Rand really only gives you half the picture, and alot of propaganda poo as well.

I'm too old -- no, scatch that. I'm too cool for presents.
I got some money. My kid, though, got a BUNCH of stuff that RUINS YOU ALL. He got a Fisher Price Truck-Slash-Wheelbarrow thing that he can ride around in AND IT MAKES NOISE. He got some stand-up dance-a-thon doohicky with a mirror and flashing lights. He got a CD of AWESOME, TRADITIONAL CHILDREN'S SONGS. Row row row your boat, anyone? I thought not. He got about 5 different cool, awesome children's storybooks, including "Are you my mother?" and some other ones I can't remember. Best of all, HE GOT A LITTLE DRUM. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? THE DRUMSTICKS ARE *TIED* TO IT SO THEY CAN'T BE LOST! SO BEAT THAT!

YAR, YOU MUST DOWNLOADEN EIN PATCHEN! AND THEN ANOTHER! WE HAVE WAYS OF MAKINK YOU DOWNLOAD!
Jesus christ, do you KNOW how much of a piss take it's been at times?
We've had patches that stop it working, patches that download then fail to install, patches that crash half way through patching, patches that play like my arse........... patches to make the bazooka do 1 more point of damage, patches to set fire to the US infantry a little better......
I've played goddamn betas with less patches required.
