Job for Someone Who Wants to Help Spring with Their Pen

Post by LordMatt »

Spring's included help documentation is very dated, and could use a serious rewrite. I am asking if anyone would like to take on the task of rewriting the five html pages that are included in every spring install. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I will review your changes and include them in the SVN. Remember you are all playing a free game, and if you've been around for a while enjoying the game and not contributed anything, this would be a great way to help out. :-)

i uploaded a mantis patch that corrects some of the most obscene errors (Spring still called TA Spring, links that were redirecting people to non-esistant file universe pages, AIs not available, ecc)

but the document should be totally rewritten from scratch, i belive too it needs some attention since it might be a key tool to make Spring more attractive to new players

I applied the patch with my own edits, but a complete rewrite is really what we need. :-)

Move the documentation to the wiki, then ask people to edit it there. It's much, much easier, and I guarantee it'll happen really quickly.

Because, that's exactly what we did with the Wine FAQ and the Ubuntu Packaging Guide - move them from subversion to the wiki. From such a simple change, development of the documentation quite literally more than quadrupled.

Can you highlight what needs to be rewritten ASAP? Maybe somebody will feel inspired!

It's a lot easier to feed the wiki than send in svn patches - especially if you're just a "regular" user.
