Ring - Sound on SpringLobby

Post by racoon97 »

I don't know if there are sounds on Springlobby windows version, but on Linux version I don't have sound when some people ring us. Also very annoying when I host and a little afk...
Is there a plan to fix this in future version or a trick to get sounds SpringLobby Linux ?

There are plans to add playing wave sound on ring. Atm it's just using beep and flash to ring but that's just temporary. It should be fairly easy to fix if someone feels up to it :-) We are currently working hard with other more critical things.

On my pc it makes a beep sound from cpu (or something in my pc) (I think).
An option to enable or disable this and to set the sound (file), would be good.
A graphical notification like in IMs could be good, too.

I just want to say that I have often wished for this feature as well.

There also needs to be an option to ring when someone joins a game you are hosting. Especially when hosting mods that few people play, you'll want to host and do something else until someone joins. The way it is now I have to alt-tab every minute or so or miss the players.

I think this and the filtering of join/leave messages on a per-channel basis are the two most sorely missing features of springlobby.

I'll also take this opportunity to thank you for the awesome work you are doing on springlobby, it's a great program.

In some lobbies you can set a notification for when someone joins your battle. ;)

So playing sound on ring and also when someone joins battle, with options to turn off sound as well as selecting sound file. These are trivial tasks to implement, but will take some time to tweak.

More advanced event system will be implemented after first release (we need to do some refactoring for this).
