Ingame Diplomacy - LUA

For those of you who've played starcraft, I would love to see a similar diplomacy system (a way to change teams and allies and such ingame) implemented. Would it be possible with LUA?

It really shouldn't be hard.
I've done it the hacky way with the old lua mission code. Perfectly possible.
