FBI tags for transports...

Post by Forboding Angel »

What is the fbi tags that allow transports to be dropships? I thought it was in the changelog, but I was wrong.

You mean dropping all units at once? That's an svn-only feature currently (though adding it doesn't break anything in 75b2 so it's safe to add it now).

The details are here: http://spring.clan-sy.com/fisheye/chang ... g/?cs=4424 - land flood is what you're looking for, I think.

Of course, it only works with an area unload command, otherwise it just drops one unit. I'm not sure about the paratrooper method.

If that's not what you meant, well, be more specific!

Releaseheld? Whats a 'dropship'?

Im pretty sure the tag that allows them to 'parachute' out their cargo is only in SVN.

Land flood what what I was looking for. Thanks, didn't realize this was slated for next version.

On a related note... When using the current method, how do you speed up the rate at which units are unloaded?

You don't, really. I guess you could mess with the acceleration and brakerate of the aircraft (they don't obey the same tags as tanks I think, but don't quote me on that) so it "hops" faster and more precisely, but I don't think you can change the rate it descends at. You can change its cruisealt so it doesn't descend as far.

However, in lowering the cruisealt you may actually increase the time of travel and cause some weird land-collision behavior on maps which have uneven terrain.

they mentioned calling it in the units cob, would you be able to create a drop effect for a factor that builds a unit (to simulate a dropship landing pad, instead of a factory) besides being used in transport unloading?

Dropship anims are not related to transport logic.

i wasnt asking about the anims, i was asking about the cob functions. but i would assume, it is limited for tansports, and there would be no way other than silly cob animations for that desired effect.
