Instead of stretching the laser texture to the current size of the shot it shows only as much of the texture as fits into the current length. In effect it looks like the texture scrolls from the gun to the target.

They've been in for a while, I actually make a really random scrolling laser for electrical attacks, the current electricity is pretty crap, imo.

That could be used for a totally awesome gauss rifle shot. Probably an even better ppc too.

I'm guessing it's a line of sight type. Does it scroll at the speed of the weapon's velocity? How does it handle damage? Over the time of the impact or all at once or something different?

Like a regular laser, just the ability to add a scrolling texture. No, the texture does not move at velocity, scrollspeed or whatever is the tag it uses.

This is for capsule lasers (aka sprite based LOS weapons), not beams.
