openSuse Spring Articles

Post by Agon »

I wrote two articles at the openSuse wikipedia:
English: http://en.opensuse.org/Spring
German: http://de.opensuse.org/Spring

They are not perfect but they give a short information about spring is.

If you have an account at openSuse.org and have some time, it would be perfect if you could translate or write a new article for spring in your language.

Ok, although instead of referencing Spring Lobby it should reference the Lobby wiki pages, so as to give a fair view, rather than being bias to any one client.

No. The user firendly way is to refer to one solution, but give a link to further information (e.g. the Loby wiki pages).

Not at all.

There is no evidence on that page to suggest there is any lobby other than spring lobby. Nothing that even implies the existence of other lobbies.

And there are few enough lobbies to list all of them, after all there are only 3 lobbies in active development, yet all references to lobbies are singular.

Spring

Was ist Spring?

I'm not member of the wiki, and i'm not going to register. But you could perform the changes as listened above, and add the screenshot (the link is broken).

I think you misunderstood him. He said that to make the guide more user friendly options were stripped down to one, rather than listing all three options, which could confuse new users. He then suggested the addition of a link to the wiki page after linking directly to one lobby.

Hm, i thought there were more than 3. I agree that the reader should know about the others (i didn't wrote sth. else). But you should give them a starting point. Something *new* ppl can use. If they download spring, there is a set of includes maps, mods ans lobbies (more than 1? i dunno). If they use the game, they visit the website to get more maps, mods and such things.
Imagine what a user would think if we would deliver spring with all possible mods and maps at once ^^
Thats what i'm woriied about.

@pktm: Thanks for the broken link, its because of the en. and de. .
I will change the articles in the feature but currently I have no time, maybe in a week.

Edit:
@Af: I added a link to your Forum Topic for Aflobby.

Fixed the broken link (Not professionally).

I´m not a article writer and my English is not the best.
But I hope to help gamers to find out that Linux can provide games and to expand the wiki from opensuse.org.

I don't know why it isn't realized as markup. I only get the codes, too.

there's a checkbox "Disable BBCode in this post", and there's a checkbox in your profile settings too.
