Linux crash - unplayable game

Post by copppro »

I just downloaded + compiled Spring on my Kubuntu Feisty Fawn system, and running inevitably crashes after it's finished loading.

I picked the following options from the 3 menus that appear at launch: Commanders, TornIslandsV2, Balanced Annihilation V5.71. The mouse appears during the menu, but does nothing.

After loading, the following comes out:
stdout:
OpenAL: ALC_EXT_capture AL_EXT_capture AL_EXT_vorbis AL_EXT_MP3 AL_LOKI_quadriphonic AL_LOKI_play_position AL_LOKI_WAVE_format AL_LOKI_IMA_ADPCM_format AL_LOKI_buffer_data_callback ALC_LOKI_audio_channel
LuaRules: gf1 = LuaRules/Gadgets/cmd_nocost.lua
LuaRules: gf2 = LuaRules/Gadgets/cmd_nocost.lua
LuaRules: Loaded gadget: NoCost <cmd_nocost.lua>
LuaRules: >> gf1 = LuaRules/Gadgets/cmd_nocost.lua
LuaRules: >> gf2 = LuaRules/Gadgets/cmd_nocost.lua
LuaRules: >> Loaded gadget: NoCost <cmd_nocost.lua>
stderr:
Try R300_SPAN_DISABLE_LOCKING env var if this hangs.

Any help?

What kind of graphics card do you have?

Try R300_SPAN_DISABLE_LOCKING env var if this hangs.
Did you try that?

in words - when you're using bash
export R300_SPAN_DISABLE_LOCKING=true
spring

That just gets rid of the R300_SPAN message. It still crashes.
