Cheers boyo!
I'm having many driver troubles with Vista and my GeForce Go 7900 GS
Its a hacked driver site, they mod the driver .inf or whatever its called to allow the new forceware to be used on older cards. I haven't got around to trying this out yet as Im super busy with new jobzor at the moment.
Let me know if you decide to give it a whirl :)
I went to the above website, poked around a little, and downloaded the 165.01 drivers for 32 bit windows vista, and the .inf file that magically makes them work for everything. Installation was difficult; the first time I attempted it my screen suddenly went black at some point during the installation and could only fixed by an inconvenient hard shut off. And then once it was installed, no amounts of uninstallation and reinstallation could fix the dreaded GL_ARB_texture_env_combine error.
So I tried again, with the 156.15 drivers, and it installed well and fixed everything. It fixed the full screen error, the lines-in-the-explosions error, the giant gray blocky trees error, and hopefully the infrequent crashing error, as well as giving me a bit more FPS.
UNFORTUNATELY, the alt tab screwed-up-zooming error has been replaced with alt tab crashing. I suspect its just because I'm using full screen now... I'll know after a few multiplayer games.
IN CONCLUSION, my Spring play stands to immediately improve 20%. Thanks for the tip.
edit: After a spot of bother involving the screen going permanently black after waking up from sleep, I updated to 163.15, and it appears to be fixed, as well as the alt-tab bug, but with possibly lower framerate.
