How about a mode where if you lose the commander, you are forced to spec. If all players on a team lose their commanders it is game over. This would be an alternative com ends mode in team games to discourage com bombs etc. And the current problem with com ends in team games - one com dies and the team is suddenly at a major disadvantage - would be reduced.

If a com dies the units for that team would be treated the same as when a player leaves - they would stand around idle or follow their last orders. And the first ally to type 'take' would take them.

So, you dont want your units to blow up if your com dies in a com ends game.

That will give you even more reason to com bomb

You could even make it last till the last com is dead (i.e. noone specs until it's over). Bombing will give you a short advantage but gives you a higher risk of a precision strike ending the game.

It will be more reason to com bomb than com ends. But less reason to com bomb than com continues. I think this would be a good option to replace com continues for team games.
