Wiki spam

Some bot is spamming up the wiki, really bad. Can the mods lock it down for a while, or set up a catchpa or something? Its getting horrible!

Under ym site proposal all wiki changes are made by registered users registered via joomla, the same with the forum, so catchpas and email activation are in place.

I cleaned up some of it a few days ago. The sites are university oriented, interesting as that may be.

Irritating as heck, but the benefits would still outweigh the irritation if one of those "type what you see in the box" modules was implemented.

Those "type what you see in the box" things are good solution... i also had to make such box to my website, because it got spammed by bots constantly.

I can go through when I have the time and revert all of them, if no other solution comes to hand.

Good grief, I had no idea we were under so much attack! I'd have to favor locking down the Wiki until we can get something in place to protect it, frankly, or we'll lose everything piece by piece.

FYI, this is called a Captcha. We had to add one to Quadropolis for similar reasons. Any open text-field on the internet will inevitably absorb search-spam.
