UnitIdea..
I missing a little Bit Units to really "Surprise" your Enemy.. Units that can Disguise as Weaker Versions.. just thinking about a Scoutboat - that is in Truth just the "Trojan"Tower of a SubEmperor.. or a TransformerPewee, who unfolds at begining Attack into something Ugly Big. Why has everything that is Powerfull in TA instantly do a Show of Force ? Small is beautifull...
Me just imagines a Bomber that after First Hit splits up into many little, even more dangerious Fighters.. or such stuff. Just stompy Krog is Boring...

it would be awesome to see a unit that could turn into another unit. it would be better if it could change color.
E.G.
say you have a spy kbot, istead of it cloaking, it would change it's appearance and team color. it could only be spotted by certain uncloaking units.
anyone who has played C&C:Generals should see my idea.

crawling bombs? atlas airtransport? Why has everything that is Powerfull in TA instantly do a Show of Force ? Small is beautifull...
but all in all you are right i guess.
I am sure some good scripter could do stuff like jumpsets, shortrange teleport. (remember the ra2 chrono guy)
But which mods should use those special units?
(In TA-based mods they would feel out of place and these mods are busy with "v10.4: speed of unit x +0.5, v10.5: everything + 0.0001 metalincome" anyway.)
-1944 is based on ww2. (No unfolding nazis)
-Gundam is based on the TV-movies so it probally only feature stuff you can see in the episodes.
-E&E seems dead and it would disattract from the "all units must look the same and should be managed as a blob"system.
-KernelPanic is meant to be simple to play.
Some mod set in a messed up year 2000 might be best suited for this, just look at the c&c series. (MAD tank, squids, weather control center, giant Zeppelin)
i only understood the jumpjet guy, the only C&C games i have are Tiberian Sun and Generals, and by the Generals reference i ment the GLA bomb truck. It can change into an enemy unit.knorke wrote:I am sure some good scripter could do stuff like jumpsets, shortrange teleport. (remember the ra2 chrono guy)
Sry if you thought i ment something else

Not possible, upon death all units loaded by the transport are immediately destroyed, you can't release them once the transport is counted as dead.Kixxe wrote:You could just have a transport unit that looks like a weak unit, and when it gets killed out comes the unit you've loaded into it undamaged. :D
"lol peewee rush this late? I'll just let my LLT's take care of em."
"OH SHI SUMO'S WHERE THE HELL DID THEY COME FROM?"
Zoy64:
In Red Alert 2 the Soviets have an infantry unit that can only move by teleporting. It can go anywhere on the map, but the longer the distance the longer it needs to recharge.
Another surprise unit would be underground units (like in Tiberian Sun) that can unburrow in the middle of a base. Not sure if Spring can do this?

Cheap tank spam? Chrono IFVs are expensive and fragile and require a lot of micro to properly use since they won't by themselves spread their targeting properly. Make sure to spread your tanks a bit so the prisms don't get much area damage done, prisms are pretty weak against vehicles. Jetpack spam? You can make the chronos leave the IFVs to target air but that leaves them exposed and ready to be gunned down and the IFVs open to a tank group. Mirage tanks hidden along the way? I don't know how the ranges compare but the mirages would get the first strike that would probably kill a few IFVs immediately plus further shots while the enemy orders his units to attack the right stuff. Also keep in mind that unless properly microed the IFV will move one field further after it's in range, immediately voiding the first shot of the legionnaire.
Unleveled chronos take forever to destroy the target so you can probably unfreeze a few of your units before they are destroyed unless the eemy is focussing fire which would leave him even weaker.
