It happens every few months... tempers rise, emotions flare... people get pissed off about trivial things... accusations fly, people get defensive...

JUST STOP

A little rule to live by in forums...

Think Before You Post.

What this means, practically is when you finish writing a post, read it over again, go back and read the post your reacting to, and then think about the people on the other side of the internet before you push the submit button.

Now, I know that sometimes a little conflict is good (especially when the other guy REALLY IS WRONG)... to this I give you my second rule, when someone is saying something that you find insulting...

Don't Take It Personally

They probably either A) are just frustrated, B) trying to egg you on, or C) reacting to something you've posted... unless you're really new people will judge you on everything else you've contributed to the community, so one moron picking on you can't kill you.

final rule... when all other rules fail...

Don't be an Asshat

Just don't, it really CAN be that simple.

Looks like Forums produce Social Stress - a easzy flameable Substance.. so what to do ? How about the Mods burning it off (like unnessecary Gases at Raffinerys) .. but otherwise.. can we have a Poll to see who is in here for Big KABOOM ?

The more realistic plea would be to limit asshattery to Off-Topic.

When I feel I have to be an asshat - which is quite often as my ass like hats - I take it to Off-Topic.

I've noticed that others *cough*jackalope*cough*isaach*cough* feel that it's okay to hat their asses in other parts of the forum. I wonder if it would be too much to ask that the asses go hatless when venturing outside of Off-Topic?

(I will be happy if one person - just one - gets the pun in the last sentence on the first reading of it.)

you know ive been seeing a lot of my posts disappear lately. hm.

and there's a difference between asshattery, trolling, satire, a simple lack of contribution, and egregious stupidity. Sometimes there are fine lines between them, but really comeon now mods. grow some... i dunno. trees or something. and of course, by trees i mean.. YEAH.
