"Absolute Annihilation" version X.X
Please stop using my mod's name and putting a version number after it as if to say it's the same work. Use a different name. This will only cause confusion if I decide to make a new version, and besides which is just blatant infringement on my "whatever"... Not to say I have a leg to stand on legally, but it's still my name and I don't want it used by others.
If you have any appreciation at all for all the years of work you're using, please just pick a new name. I'm fine with "Balanced Annihilation", or whatever else. Just not word-for-word "Absolute Annihilation" or "Absoluter Annihilation" or anything clearly derivative. Please make it clear in your readme what your mod is based on if you're using the vast majority of AA's original data.
Thanks for your consideration.

I think the creators of AA 5.0 wanted to avoid the hard work of getting people to play their mod, so they used AA's name and made the version number higher than BA's. Unfortunately, the people making that mod are no longer doing it, so they aren't going to release a new version with a different name.
Well, you have to keep in mind the original goal of Nixa's AA project - Balanced Annihilation was meant to be a tweaked rebalancing of Absolute Annihilation - but BA made significant gameplay tweaks that were unpopular, and kept many of the 2.X tweaks that were also unpopular. When Nixa's AA project was started, the goal was to simply finish-off and stabilize Absolute Annihliation - the project was meant to be temporary, just to tie off the loose ends and failed-experiments that were in the last version of AA. Hence, they wanted to make that clear by keeping the name, since it was meant to be a completion of Caydr's mod - not anything original. Obviously they should've got Caydr's permission before using the name.
Either way, apparently the "5.0" thing was a joke making fun of BA's meteoric version-numbers. I haven't seen any activity from Nixa, so I think the AA5 project is dead anyways.
The problem is that obviously the most popular dialect of TA is Caydr's formula of Uberhack-with-extra-units (provided they have a unique role). Numerous people have tried to follow up on AA, but nobody's had the same motivation Caydr did - BA has stagnated, and AA5 looks like it was a one-hit-wonder. All the other approaches (XTA's speed, NOTA's Supcomishness, BOTA/FunTA's old-school feel) haven't had the same popularity as just "Uberhack with more fun stuff".

2.23 was the most broken mod ive played in spring in my time playing but when it was the newest AA it was also the most popular. Your logic dosen't really hold up.

You know, coming in every few weeks to make like 3 or 4 posts and not responding to anything isn't very constructive. "Hit and fade" posting isn't really going to make anyone change what they're doing. Besides, I'm sure Nixa like most of the rest of us probably assumed you were gone and too busy to come back. He started his fork because he liked AA, and many of us including me suggested that he either seek permission from you or name it something very similar as an homage, not a ripoff. Most of us thought you'd give it to him since you all but declared AA dead on your website.
