SPRING sucks on Win VISTA

There's some things in Vista that I wish I had in XP. Like the improved handling of programs which lock up, improved explorer, nicer interface. But there's also downsides, like DX9 being emulated and shoddy drivers. Overall, I would rate it about the same as XP, so I'm not going to buy it (yet).
As for security, Vista is unsecure in my book. I don't make this argument by pointing out specific vulnerabilities (XP loses to Linux by an absolute mile on that, and I have no doubt Vista will be the same when they're found), but by MS's general attitude about security. Things like extensions for known file types being hidden by default, things like not admitting to vulnerabilities in good time (no point in pointing them out of course, but what's the use in denying them once they're common knowledge?).
Then there's just the fact that I'm really sick of MS. Things like making Halo 2 PC DX10 only simply to try and force people to upgrade to Vista. MS have always relied on forcing their customers to spend money wherever possible rather than just putting out decent products that they'll happily pay for. I'll upgrade to Vista when I'm ready and it's worth my while, not when MS just wants some of my money.

When i posted, i didn't had time to re-read it. Now, i think you may have interpreted it more agressively than i meant. I wasn't even upset, i was merely calling the attention, because i didn't found that fair.
You didn't stated it explicitely but, the way you wrote it, implicitely states «mostly nothing».LordMatt wrote:Please find where in my previous posts that I said you did nothing.
It wouldn't have been a bad choice. Still, i didn't found it as a personal offense (i wouldn't even have bothered, since i don't hang around anymore), that is why i confronted it publicly. Anyway, it's not like i am breaking a usefull discussion. The topic wasn't even in first page, i think (call me a necro).smoth wrote:this would have been better in pm.
