As opposed to the GIGANTIC flamethrower of DOOM?

I was going for the "psychotic robot meets Officer Friendly" look ;) TBPH, I'm a little less than totally thrilled by the skin, myself, but I've gotta go to work in two hours and I haven't slept all night, so I'm going to take a brief nap instead of fussing with it right now.

Meet the AutoFac. It's totally harmless- just a factory! Trust us ;)

It only looks like some mutant Death Star.

This has to one of the coolest screens I've captured yet. The only Photoshop was the text and border.

Love the texture, but I found the spheres are too low poli.
And ergh, if this is in spring, it ìs raytraced isn't it?

I guess I'm just easily excitable ;) The glowmaps and the teamcolor + reflectivity for that interesting metallic look on the outer spheres is what made me excited.

That's not the final map on this- I have a further set of revisions to make the center sphere much more interesting and make the outer ones look more like functional things, but I haven't gotten there yet.

At any rate, we're almost touching noses with the thing, so it's to be expected it's going to look like what it is- a low-poly object, all dolled up to look more sophisticated than it really is. When you zoom out, it's really hard to tell.

And last but not least... I wouldn't really classify the engine as a raytracer, no. While it does light things from the point source of the sun, the lighting actually has a number of issues that become fairly obvious if you do tests with it. Compared to a raytracer like POV-Ray... no, it's not even close, in terms of accuracy. However, that doesn't stop us from making things of surpassing beauty. I just felt that this was an atmospheric shot, so I decided to share- I'm not going to argue the fine points, because I really don't care anyhow- I just like making kewl art :-)

hmm is it me or have you already posted a pic similair to that before? It seems very familiar, btu I must agree I dont like the facetted look when it's obviously supposed to be smooth. Otherwise I love ti and I wish the dark sinister technological look it has was put into the textures of the other units

In 0.3, can you make Knights 'splode a bit less violently? 1 rook can kill 50 og them just due to the massive chain reaction :/

it's the risk you take Drone_Fragger, the trick is to throw your knights into the fray at just the right moment in a battle

Anyways I have an updated version of NTAI with attacking and a fix that should make those factories get placed better. See fileunvierse latest files in the next 40 mintues.

I'd also advise anyone making buidltrees for XTA/AA to get that but it's not for public consumption
