a bit of an off topic thought here.

I'm thinking that a good many people are afraid that if they play a mod other than AA then they will start to suck at AA which isn't true.

I rarely if ever play AA and I am still quite good. I do make more mistakes now though.

Forboding has a very good point here. I always sucked at AA. Take it from me, E&E seems to help me improve my AA ability.

I sucked at everything. Then someone told me: "Zoombie use the damn repeat order" and I looked and squinted and saw that the button I had always called teh 'squggily button' because I could never READ the damn thing DID say repeat. That really helped, cause I kept forgetting to build new units.

I chose Other. "Gundam Annihilation is not my cup of tea because it is my cup of tea." I just never see anyone else playing it.

Yep, the repeat order is crucial. My problem is that there's no hotkey for it by default.

Smoth, I cannot see the link you posted here at work... either the link is borked or my workplace internet access is blocking it (unlikely, since I can get here). I'll check it out again when I get home.

Other: I haven't paid really any attention to it yet. I'll give it a shot now.

Hopefully I'll find a game...

I think a mod like Gundam appeals mainly to anime otakus and not really to the general public, I feel no attraction to the whole Gundam theme and I group Gundam into the whole Pokemon/transformers/tamagotchi thing created to exploit young consumers by spawning shitloads of toys and franchise from what is imho a pretty boring concept of robots transforming into bigger robots and killing eachother.

It's a real pity because you did a great job on the art, I just wish you had done something more meaningful than a Gundam mod with all that time and energy. Perhaps you should create something unique?

This is unfortunate, as Gundam has always been a very serious, adult anime. While fancruft is fancruft, I put Gundam much more in the realm of Star Wars and Battletech than kiddie cartoons.

Which episode of Star Wars? Because episode 1,2 and 4 were basically kids movies. Also people were playing battletech in high-school so I wouldn't call it overly mature... maybe Mech Assault is though... anyways... As a person who appreciates Anime for what it is I know what you are saying and it annoys me that people think of it as "a way to sell toys"... maybe if you concider a model railroad a toy.

Animes are cool but most of them always have to end up with the philosophical argument where the bad guy has the same past/motivations as the good guys and all this "i want people to acknowledge my existance" bullcrap, if it didnt take around 50% of the anime's running time it wouldnt bother me as much.
I dont really care the slightest about what a mod is based on as long as it doesnt interfere with the gameplay (the old "oh but i gotta leave this shitty weapon because game/movie/uncle X had it too"), im yet to give it a proper go and see if it plays as good as it looks, should be fun from what ive seen from KAI.

You haven't seen very many, have you? I could produce a list of ones that don't end like that, which would include every single Gundam ever produced with the possible exception of G, but then I'd be here all day.

You also get a lot of emotionally tormented young men trying to find their place in this crazy world with giant robot anime... any exceptions to that?

In Japan, comics and anime range for every age group and interest. If you have ever seen monster(a series about a surgeon) or Kimi-ga-nozomu-eien(which gets very adult very quick) you would know better.

Gundam is reguarded as the japanese startrek most of it's fans are NOT kids. gundam, 08thms team, 0083, zeta gundam and chars counter attack are not for kids. Zeta gundam, and 08th ms team would never hold a childs attention.

As far as it's toyetic appearance, yeah and there are no toys or models for modern warmachines. People make the models as hobbyist and say what you want but some of the japanese modelers are mind blowing. They beat the pants off of some of the historic modelers I have met... guys in their 50-60s. Of course some would call it childish.. it is just a hobby, one more interesting the adult stuff like watching american football or baseball.

Gundam wing, is meant to be popular with the kiddies as are ZZ gudam, G gundam and SD gundam are for kids.

However, you like many other americans limit your anime to what you see on fox or cartoon network. Your loss really because there are some damn good anime. However, you have a right to your opinions no matter how ultimately wrong they are.
