Has any of you actually bothered to check http://www.planetannihilation.com/ frontpage? It contains rather fresh news by DarkYouth.
Yes, as I said I hadn't bothered to check it recently since for at least 6 months there, there was one post a month at the very best. Seems he's giving it a little more time now, so I'm appreciative of that.
My attitude towards Darkyouth comes mainly from
1) his deletion of my forum without warning because I was directing people to another Gamespy-domain site. At the time when he deleted my forum, I had already moved almost all of my traffic to this other Gamespy-network site, so I can't blame him for that. But I REALLLLLYYYYY would have appreciated it if he'd given notice a week in advance even, or made a redirect to the new forum, or just bloody well left well-enough alone and let me keep my own redirect I'd set up.
2) His general attitude of "leave me alone, I don't care about any problems you're having. I'm Darkyouth. Bow down." any time I used to contact him regarding news updates or tech questions. He later said basically, "well hey, i'm a busy guy, I switch between computers all the time, i can't keep track of all my messages." Well hey, this is bullshit, if you can't read messages people leave you on MSN, DON'T SIGN IN!!! THAT'S THE WHOLE PURPOSE!!!!
3) His unwillingness to take 5 minutes and just post a news update. He claims he hasn't received a single email from me regarding updates, but I've sent him dozens, usually simulatenously to his email address, MSN messenger, as well as private-message. There's no explanation other than him just ignoring them. And it's not as if he didn't recognize my email account - he once said to me, of course I know it's you, you're the only guy with an @rogers email address.
4) His tendancy to talk down to people, or me at least. I asked him some questions and he basically said "well that's too complex for you to understand. I can understand, because I am darkyouth, but you are an underling and incapable of such feats." I'm not a stupid person, I don't expect to be treated as such because he's at some fancyass college, while I prefer to learn things on my own time. Not to mention that I'm in high school full time and running 3 mods. And have a social life, even if it's pathetic.
5) He once promised me that he would have a mod database compiler - which he already had completed and showed me its results - ready for me "in 2 weeks". Now, I can't fault him for not living up to his date, I mean, shit happens, and he's not doing this for a living. But if he can't do anything for his hosted sites, LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. If I didn't have any time to spend on AA and I had more pressing things to attend to, I'd give someone else the responsibility. I mean, honestly, if you don't want to take responsibility for a project anymore, and there are people relying on you, why would you stubbornly hold on? He makes out as though there is nobody else capable of writing a legible PA news post. He's literally said this.
I'm not one to hold a grudge (wait, this was a page long rant... maybe I am), so I really don't care about any of the above anymore. It's in the past, but it still reflects on my feelings about him. If a guy rams an iceberg, you don't let him take the helm again. And again. And again. I just don't bother with him anymore... it's more trouble than it's worth just to get him to respond, let alone to get him to do anything.
