So I understand smoth that you do not have interest in the game, especially for the price. That does not justify the shit storm happening down there.
I think people are upset because they want to try it but don't have ~100 bux to shell out for an ALPHA. The devs could go "hey, lets make a budget version with no extras and let people in on the alpha have a preorder. They can REACT to the complaints of the market. if the market then continues to bitch, then the market will have to get over it.

my disinterest in the GAMEPLAY does not mean I side with the people complaining. I think the company is ripping people off and honestly people are lapping it up because they like the SALES PITCH and have become rabid fanbois. I think this shows how immature people who get suckered by a sales pitch can be.

You assume that they didn't attempt to do that. From what I understand they try did what you suggested, but value won't allow them for some reason. (I am very certain that I'm correct, but I could be wrong)

It is completely reasonable to buy the alpha access because you are a hardcore fan and the early involvement is worth the extra money to you.

It is not reasonable to throw a tantrum because you want alpha access without paying the same price that everyone else paid for it.

This. Steam is full of self important, entitled little pricks.

kickstarter is not a traditional market though.
People do not pay extra money on kickstarter for material reasons.

Pledge $40 or more

5513 backers

Early access to the Beta, a copy of the digital game soundtrack, and access to the private discussion community. Includes all previous tiers.
so if they put it on steam for 40$ for alpha.. the steam people do not get the extra sound track.

everyone wins

So do you set up a refund for the people at the $90 level who paid particularly for the alpha access and would like to return their soundtrack and commander?

Had fun yet paying to work as a tester? Here are some things you could have bought instead:
* 2 just-released AAA titles
* 6 blockbuster movie tickets
* 10 pocket books
* 10 eat outs
* 2 copies of the limited edition Game of Thrones Blu-ray box
* 1 year subscription of Netflix
* 1 bitcoin

But hey, go PA. *Hype hype hype hype* soooo awesome omg

thats a really strange discussion.

If somebody thinks, that the game is worth 90$, why shouldn´t he be content with buying it for that price?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
* 2 copies of the limited edition Game of Thrones Blu-ray box ... why the limited edition? OMG thy hype sooooo awesome... YOU COULD HAVE BOUGHT THE NORMAL EDITION LOLZ... ... and a pack of chips, 2 sets of razor blades ( the cheap ones, of course, not that brand stuff for snobs and people with money... bastards, all of them) a few condoms plus toilet-paper and this cheap sticker set for kids.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

But that would not be the limited edition, would it now? If it costs 90$, and there is no alternative to get the same thing for less, why not buy it for that price?

And it all seems quite logical to me:
-Kickstarter alpha excess = 90$
-Alpha excess now = 90$

fair is fair

Oh and yeah, I have fun playing the alpha. And I will most likely have fun playing the beta. And probably the same will apply to the finished game.

Is there hype? Sure, there is. Does that mean it automatically sucks? No ( unless I´m mistaken about the meaning of hype )

well, luckywaldo7 already said all there is to say about that "issue".

Just come play Forged alliance on the FAF lobby...
Its the same fucking thing only better balanced, more polished, free and developed by a dedicated community(oh shit no round planets)...

As far as the 90$ price I see nothing wrong with it.
If you dont want it, dont get it(guess what? nobody is forcing you)...
Whats the big deal, not to mention the fairness point is solid.
Others paid 90 why should these on steam pay less for the exact same thing?

It is obvious this is not some attempt at making more money...
All the impatient f*cks want to play it now so they complain.
zzz case closed.

I guess Uber needs to care but why are we discussing these entitled ADD teenagers who dont even bother doing the minimal amount of reading/thinking before dunking PA and Uber into a pile of shit?

rumple for me, it is an examination of practices and how they could have drawn in more people to the alpha. For some others in the thread it is about passing judgement on a available market of people. I think at least one person here is a defensive fan of the game.

I don't give a crap about the game beyond getting tired of hearing people talk about how amazing it is. I cannot stand companies that run on hype and how people buy into said hype. I don't think it is a good game and I don't think it will be.

... and had fixed working hours, test-plans, overtime ( unpaid most of the time i would presume ), workplace ( not at home ;) ) and other nifty gimmicks this alpha doesn´t have.

NOW I feel ripped-off ;)

From watching Godde play and watching youtube streams All I see is A much simpler(less units and only 1 faction instead of 4) buggier supcom with round planets.
Maybe If supcom was just released with all it's bugginess and fail support I might think PA would be a better choice, but ATM, with Supcom being well patched and supported properly I am absolutely not excited about PA.
Not to mention Being as excited about it as I could be about a properly working TA like game on the Spring engine.

Here's a replay of a SupCom match, on FAF:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4PrQWSmzqs
Basically, it's an:
Rumpelstiltskin wrote:... Icon wars. ...
With all that the more is better and bigger is better, they ended up making a very bland and tasteless game.

I can point to the boringness of waiting foreeeeeeeeee ... eeeeever for the raiding units to reach the opponent.

I can point to the fact that in the replay, at a certain time, the commentator says that player X had reached Lvl 3 units. At the time I was like "WTF, have they even reached Lvl 2???". The impact of changing from Lvl 1 to 2, and from 2 to 3 was completely unnoticeable.

I can point to the fact that in the replay, at a certain point, the right guy builds a very strong powerfull piece of artillery whose only effect is making the opponent pull back its blob of icons a little bit back.

SupCom is a great game (no sarcasm) but is also severely flawed in the gameplay. I am definitely eager to see another attempt at a TA remake and I hope this time they get it "right".

zwzsg wrote:A long time ago alpha tester was a painful job that you got paid for.
Quoted for truth.

And an even more concerning trend that's been emerging the last decade is companies releasing games in completely sh*ity states with the promise of fixes, patches, addons and what not, and just abandoning them as soon as they've snatched as much money as possible from the consumers.

I would say that I am as much concerned with the PA developers doing that as I am with them not getting the gameplay right... Guess if that happens, the ones who bought the game in advance will be the ones to burn. I'll probably just wait unti the game gets really released and in a decent state of quality.

Its high time for a licensing model were a not completely working released game becomes OS so that the ripped of customers at least can fix it.

Units walk through buildings as fi they weren't there, mass extractors can be built anywhere ( including on the surface of the sea ), and a tonne of other stuff, very very alpha

Having said that they're iterating quickly
