hopefully it has some kind of userfriendlyness
Ill be in #DF if you need help getting started or you have trouble understanding something.Dwarf Fortress is an ASCII game which includes both a roguelike adventure mode and a city management mode similar to Dungeon Keeper. It has a very steep learning curve, partly due to its ASCII graphics, but it is one of the most complex games ever released
also the dwarf fortress wiki is compulsory read while getting the hang of the game;

and lastly

reading these few will answer most of you basic questions >_>
basically i had to do like 20 forts before i survived through the first winter
(before that a band of berserk elephants raided my fortress because a hunter messed with wrong wildlife at a wrong time, butchering everyone, or acidentally flooding the whole map in a farming related accident)
and to advertise my own fortresses a bit!

and the ever so awesome
http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-309-copperblazes
This was the final recorded census of Copperblazes by the mountainhomes city liaison before all contact was lost. Copperblazes had found adamantine and was prepared to mine it out. Historians note that was experiencing decadence on an unprecedented scale. As nobles drank from gold plated, iron studded, platinum banded, bejeweled silver goblets while making senseless demands for green diamond, opals, and platinum items, the common dwarf was facing mass unemployment, as over 100 dwarves sat idle or were involved in non-stop parties.
Copperblazes survived over 33 goblin sieges with over 900 goblins dead, 92 dead kobold thieves, 84 fire man attacks, 12 demon attacks, 200 dead unicorns, and over 100 combined dead lizard men, cave crocodiles and giant toads.
"It was just pointlessly large."
Cliky linky!

Compared to most roguelikes, with their prayers and unicorn horns and obscure messages that you'd never know what they meant unless you looked it up and downright unfair monster spawns specifically just designed to kill you and endless reams of odd commands all tied to a different button ('wipe face'), its very user-friendly.
