Its just imo you could be making amazing maps with what you can do, your just not able to put your skills together in the right way to produce them.

For the ground I'd go for a texture similar to that in the pale version, but a colour that looks like a lighter version of the standing crystals. Just think reaasonably - the terrain looks like soil/rock, right? But it's all crystal. So realistically, the terrain is gonna be mostly made of powerdered/crushed crystal. Crushed crystal is white instead of clear, so make the colour lighter than the solid crystal. So use a nice, grainy, sedimentary rock texture and recolour it lavendar. Think light-purple limestone.
