Xect vs. Mynn - 0.6 released, now 100% legal
Moderator: Moderators
It didnt work.. Ive been running several different mods in different installs of ta spring. since ive installed the Mynn vs Xect they all are crashing. even fresh installs are crashing with the latest release. ill try uninstalling and reinstalling 1 version in 1 directory to see if that fixes anything. anyway if i can get this fixed are they making any mod switchers yet?

I made a version of Xect-Mynn with PauloMorfeo cursors.
I have also updated some FBI files and removed some extra files.
It's a very crude hack and it only works with the Linux branch.

You need to remove otacontent.sdz in the base directory if you have that file.
The file prevents Spring from using the cursors provided with the mod.
Under Windows this will crash Spring.
I'm going to ask around why this is.
Oh and before I forget, it corrupts your sound output under Linux.
So make sure your audio device is busy so OpenAL can't use it.

I'm new to Spring, and i have a small question concerning this mod (or generally every mod):
How exactly do i use it (with spring-linux)? Do i need to use commandline patameters or something like this? I'm do not really understand how the mod system works.
Werner
PS: I created a wiki page for the mod Xect vs. Mynn. I hope it contains correct info?
EDIT: forgot to mention that i'm running Linux here.

Xect vs. Mynn .2 - with legal cursors (thanks Tim) and trim FBI files, works on windows. Otacontent is no longer a dependency. The cursors need prettification and color changes.

There is no official release for Linux yet.
You can follow the setup guide at http://taspring-linux.berlios.de/wikka. ... SetupGuide
(refresh the page if it gives an error)
You can't select a mod from within Spring atm.
So you have to manualy replace the xta mod with the Xect vs. Mynn mod.
It's a sdz or sd7 file in the mods subdirectory of spring.
After that you run the spring binary.

Oh, i already compiled everything in the rts directory (the "spring" executable is runable at least) by doing this:Tim Blokdijk wrote:There is no official release for Linux yet.

How do i replace the XTA mod if there isn't a XTA mod? Do i need to download other things as well?
Thanks for your answer,
Werner
Sorry, my bad. I missed/overlooked the "taspring-linux-data" bit.
Will report how it works out. Gonna get some sleep now.
EDIT: Slightly off-topic: Is there an easy way to tell spring to not use or ignore this graphics-card extension?
EDIT2: answering my own question: Spring says I need the GL_ARB_texture_env_combine extension, what can I do?
Damn, there is not one single cool game i can play with my computer :-/
EDIT3: Ok, my card seems to support this extension ... link (i have a Riva TNT2)... and i have the most recent driver, so wtf?

The lobby will allow you to change some settings but that functionality is not working yet.Hoehrer wrote:...

I don't know if a Riva TNT2 will do it...
Spring is not a low spec application.
But atm Spring is mostly CPU demanding for path calculations.
A quick test with glxgears told me that my card actually supports this extension, so it should work _in theory_ Hmm.. but the prefix is a different one, see belowTim Blokdijk wrote:The lobby will allow you to change some settings but that functionality is not working yet.

Yes indeed, I think you can better send a mail to the Linux mailing list.PS: This is getting slightly off-topic, sorry for that.
