I don't really see a game console market anymore. We have advanced interface low-end computers like the DS and Wii, and we have pre-packaged reduced interface mid-power game computers like the PSP, PS3 and Xbox 360. Then, of course, we have very low-end machines with reduced interfaces such as the GBA; and very high-end machines with variable interfaces such as... well, the PC.

It's quite possible that it could outsell the PS2 still, Nintendo has done an excellent job of selling a fun, cute, must have game console. I'm sure I will eventually get one myself... however, I don't really see the wii as competition in the real game console market per say... It's sort of it's own genera of gaming in itself, so I am presented with the choice between the PS3 and the XB360, If that choice didn't need to be made I'd happily get both, but honestly, I think I'm going to be glad I waited.

Wii can be fun and cute but it most certainly isnt a must-have-game console.

afaik 75% of the games for it are golf/tennis/other sport games, and i have 0 interest in playing virtual tennis.

what comes to the choice between PS3 and the xbox360, i just checked my local prices for them:

PS3 = 659.90├óÔÇÜ┬¼
Xbox 360 Core System = 284.90 ├óÔÇÜ┬¼

now tell me why i would want to spend extra 375 euros for a ps3 that has virtually no good games and all the good games like metal gear serie and final fantasies are running away from ps-only ideology?

xbox on the other hand is a lot cheaper and has games like halo3 coming for them.

if people are really that retarded as to follow ps3 shitting over them with the price of the console, then have fun <3

Xbox 360: We have Halo 3, a mediocre game in a mediocre genre!

Seriously, anybody see the beta? Hell-ll-ll-ooooooooooooo hard drive! 1 GB for what, apparently, is 110 MB of engine, 65 MB of content such as items and models, and then 275 MB for each of three maps. EXCUSE ME - who said you couldn't tile or compress? Isn't like the maps look good ANYWAY. You're playing this on a television - this isn't mad resolution here.

Halo; where your computer allies sit in front of your position if you take a Covenant turret for your own use. Halo 2; where Cooperative mode LAGS, and you can watch individual layers of texture being loaded.

Really spectacular games, guys.

As compared to Half Life, arguably the best game ever made. Or, say, Jagged Alliance 2, Homeworld, Fallout, Doom?

Anyone wonder why I'm a PC Loyalist? Those were games just sitting in the open that I read off in a random order. If I dig I can find even better classics.

Funnily, they are also sitting on top of my FalloutPNP rulebook. Which is another thing I like a great deal, Pencil and Paper RPG's.

So, to sum it up, Consoles can burn in hell for all I care.

Hey, that's like the fourth time this week I've said that. Hurra!

I liked it a lot. Maybe I should change that to one of my favorite games ever. Right up there with Fallout, Planescape Torment and X-com.

But these are all personal preferences.

I haven't listened to the last four God's I've met, so what makes you think I'll listen to this one?

I might take offense to the application of the derogatory mantle of god-hood if I weren't such an agreeable fellow.

My unspoken point was such; there is no best game. Get over yourself.

Recently, you have begun to find yourself unfulfilled and distant in your daily occupation. Strange dreams of prospecting, stealing, crusading, and combat have haunted you in your sleep for many months, but you aren't sure of the reason. You wonder whether you have in fact been having those dreams all your life, and somehow managed to forget about them until now. Some nights you awaken suddenly and cry out, terrified at the vivid recollection of the strange and powerful creatures that seem to be lurking behind every corner of the dungeon in your dream. Could these details haunting your dreams be real? As each night passes, you feel the desire to enter the mysterious caverns near the ruins grow stronger. Each morning, however, you quickly put the idea out of your head as you recall the tales of those who entered the caverns before you and did not return. Eventually you can resist the yearning to seek out the fantastic place in your dreams no longer. After all, when other adventurers came back this way after spending time in the caverns, they usually seemed better off than when they passed through the first time. And who was to say that all of those who did not return had not just kept going?

Asking around, you hear about a bauble, called the Amulet of Yendor by some, which, if you can find it, will bring you great wealth. One legend you were told even mentioned that the one who finds the amulet will be granted immortality by the gods. The amulet is rumored to be somewhere beyond the Valley of Gehennom, deep within the Mazes of Menace. Upon hearing the legends, you immediately realize that there is some profound and undiscovered reason that you are to descend into the caverns and seek out that amulet of which they spoke. Even if the rumors of the amulet's powers are untrue, you decide that you should at least be able to sell the tales of your adventures to the local minstrels for a tidy sum, especially if you encounter any of the terrifying and magical creatures of your dreams along the way. You spend one last night fortifying yourself at the local inn, becoming more and more depressed as you watch the odds of your success being posted on the inn's walls getting lower and lower.

In the morning you awake, collect your belongings, and set off for the dungeon. After several days of uneventful travel, you see the ancient ruins that mark the entrance to the Mazes of Menace. It is late at night, so you make camp at the entrance and spend the night sleeping under the open skies. In the morning, you gather your gear, eat what may be your last meal outside, and enter the dungeon...

@ neddiedrow: halo1 was one of the most awesome fps games i've played, but i agree with your stance on halo2 :-(

There is a best game for me, I suppose. Bad wording on my part, I will let my trained Apologist service you.

Halflife is the most economic game you could ever buy. Even back in the day when it was $50, you buy one halflife, you get...

- NS (natural selection)
- Sven (coop)
- CS
- DoD
- Firearms
- TFC
- S&I (Science and Industry)
- TS (The Specialists)
- TH (They Hunger by Black Widow Games)
- 1-2 dozen other more obscure single player mods that are incredibly fun
- a dozen or so other obscure multiplayer mods that are moderately fun

Even if you set aside the fact that roughly half those titles are quality enough to be their own stand alone releases, it's still a damn impressive list. There is no 50$ I've ever spent that bought me more gameplay time than I got out of halflife. I probably make most WoW players look pussy with the amount of hourage HL has covered for me, and I didn't pay monthly for it :)

And then, with HL2, you get Garry's Mod which is a game and a half by itself. Then when you shell out $10 for Garry's Mod V10, then you get TWO games and a half!

I would probably get Half Life again if I had people to play the variants with. Hint. Hint.

Sorry, but I'm not a big fan of multilayer. That's for PNPRPG's, not for games. Games are for being by all your lonesome. Or at least they are for me.

Though I do favor a match of SupCom, Dark Crusade or Star Craft with my good friend Alex, Sam, Paul, or...uh...what was his name?

No matter! I'm a strange person when it comes to multilayer that way.
