agreed. but what does "-14" mean?
(just kidding... :-) )

Furthermore i think coming up with a name for a game with no obvious setting theme, or background story is very hard, if not somewhat pointless.
At least a title should describe or reference to something in its content.

for example:
I think TA indicates violent and destructive spectacle.
SC is named after the main protagonist(s) within the game play.
I think these both names are pretty uninspired, but at least its something.

Zero-K refers to the uniform temperature at the entropic heat death of the universe.

It's not supposed to sledgehammer you in the face with its meaning; it is supposed to be subtle.

The general idea for the plot atm has these fractured factions of robots that have been fighting to the very end of the universe itself. Perhaps you play the role of a lone commander, who realises the end is near and tries to fulfill his self-preservation programming by uniting the factions to pool their resources for some fluffy way to survive the end. So along with the general theme of machine vs. machine in each mission, you also have an overarching theme of machine vs. nature.

There has actually been loads of stuff written for it by Saktoth, King Raptor, and Licho iirc, and there are lots of possibilities just nothing definitive has been hammered out. But in general the direction they have been going with it has been to make it more of a "thinking man's game", instead of just robots fighting robots. And the title reflects that a bit.

Presumptuous? A bit maybe. But isn't that your guy's favorite thing about CA? :D

I read that CA will be named into Zero-K.

When do you release a stable version? I want to try this  Are there any big changes?
Will CA still maintained? Or will it be completely replaced with Zero-K?

thanks :)
Have a nice weekend guys ;)

Zero-K is just a renaming and shoehorning a plot onto CA-1Faction. CA-1Faction is just merging CA's 2 factions into a single faction with greater diversity in its unit selection.

The only major gameplay change was the jump from CA to CA-1Faction - that involved jumbling the roles of units a bit, but the major gameplay elements were unchanged.

Zero-K is simply the completion of CA-1Faction, replacing the remaining Cavedog-derived content with new materials and adding a story and campaign for the game. It is not a gameplay shift from CA-1Faction.

Therefore, if you are familiar with CA (or even better, CA-1Faction), then you already know how to play Zero-K.

Current CA releases are labelled as "pzk" in that they're the pre-ZK.

And why you want to go to 1 faction? Purpose? Advantages? Disadvantes? Dont tell me because of Cavedog content... Lazy excuse...

I agree but purely because of how bad Zero-K sounds in comparison.

If it was something like Zone-14, abbreviated to Z-14 to be used by people who already know what the Z stands for, it would be even better. However, "Zone-14" obviously doesn't relate to CA at all...
