The splash screen scales to 1600x1200, at least on my setup. Maybe it tries to keep to the aspect ratio of the image?Felix the Cat wrote:Actually I don't think anything in SupCom scales to screen resolution, the splash screen doesn't scale to fit my widescreen.

My impression (from playing LAN with somone who has a key) is that the ui is overly clunky, and everything just seems.. off (even for a beta). Granted I dont have too much to go on because somhow my computer that can run spring 1200x1600 4x AA, shadows, reflective units and water ect ect, lags like you'd never belive in lowest settings and resulotion in supcom. The ui take sup OVER HALF the screen at that resolution, and once 10 guys start shooting it droped to 10 fps or lower. Seriously, the perforcmence for the same power computer is crap. Maybe its just my setup specificly, but thats my impression.
And um, are you suposed to not be able to use the minimap to move(EDIT: move the camera, just to clarify, because I could use it to move guys.. but couldnt seem to move my camera)? because I found that infuriating.

I have a pretty low-spec system by todays gaming standards, and I can -mostly- play fine in ranked 1v1 games (Units are capped at 250 a side), but when its close to that limit I lose alot of frames per second.
Hopefully this is optimised, though at the same time people are calling for ranked game caps to be increased to 500 a side

*sigh* Not by these screens, Supcom is looking better, though not by a huge margin. The models are higher poly, and the ground looks to have bump-mapping.
Also, the interface, while clunky by the minimalist standards of spring is average compared to the legions of Starcraft/Warcraft inspired GUI's out there (personally I dislike big clunky interfaces, but I'm sure they'll fix this one up before release).

If you think Spring looks similar to SupCom, than you are very wrong. The detail on SupComs stuff at maximum detail with shadows on (Can't run high shadows or 4x AA, only medium shadows) looks beautiful. It's amazing.
Though that depends on whether your running a mod that can actually boost all of the models poly levels to like a 50k for experimentals and 1000-2000 for most other units, that also supports SM3 shaders and dynamic model tesselation.
I'm not trying to put down Spring here, but comparing Spring to SupCom is like the PS1 to the PS2. They're from completely different generations of computer gaming, and SupCom's unit limit is like 100 fold Spring's.
Really there is no comparison :/
The AI lags like bloody hell though, best to play multiplayer.

I wasn't attacking you. I don't see how that can be viewed as an attack... I was commenting on how the forums are so different (although that's to be expected).ZellSF wrote:Funny how internet forums work like that. Can we stop attacking me and get back on topic now?heh, it's the opposite at the supcom forums.
one person: spring is better than supcom!
False, just because they have an option to allow 50k units doesn't mean that it would be anywhere near playable speed.and SupCom's unit limit is like 100 fold Spring's.
For the same reason we keep the spring limit at 5000 because at that point it's going all too slow anyway.
Also I don't think the terrain was bumpmapped, though maybe I had wrong settings...
