tbh, im amazed they were making this game for so long, 'recruited' so many ppl to make it, and still none of the nubs came up with the idea of 'formation widget'. but ye, i like to watch sc2 replays, while eating dinner

Ya, formation control is the one thing I really really miss from spring, but they designed a game with respect to the fact that exact positions of units are difficult to control without a lot of babysitting, so in that respect the game works.Wombat wrote:time fo barel roll !

If you had formation widgets in the game things like splash damage units would need to have more range and stuff and it would just be a different dynamic. So meh, there's a logic behind the way things are.
Re: Starcraft 2
ye thats true, tho there are units like tanks or... err, forgot the name, one with blink, could use some line formation. another thing that actually piss me off is that units are stacked like big ball, ready to be massacred. but i suppose its coz of the experience with spring :D game is worth buying imo. cant wait to meet idra!
btw, according blink, this Orb guy i think, who owned idra with epic blink micro, OOOOOOooOooohhHhhhhHHh

Re: Starcraft 2
got a "free 1 week key" thing played online a bit. liked game but it does not run smooth enough.
if you've played sc1, most things work the same, at least for terran.
ui is alot better than sc1 but missed some things from spring ie line move

Re: Starcraft 2
well, its sc1 with new graph tbh, used to be main argument to not buy it. and, meh, needs good pc
btw, u got ownd ? :D
Re: Starcraft 2
not really just with Spring, units in SC2 stack closer than in SCBW for example, there you could keep guys spread out when you knew what you were doing (magic box mechanism) - SC2 they just clump kinda always, no fast way to avoid it.Wombat wrote:ye thats true, tho there are units like tanks or... err, forgot the name, one with blink, could use some line formation. another thing that actually piss me off is that units are stacked like big ball, ready to be massacred. but i suppose its coz of the experience with spring :D game is worth buying imo. cant wait to meet idra!

But its not raelly a problem, when you've considered that when balancing the gameplay - just a matter of preference how unitse behave
And its not just updated SCBW, imo SCBW has cooler units & maps, it would be better if it was maybe
Re: Starcraft 2
the 1v1s i played ive won, probally because matchmaking gives you enemies with no rts experience at all...Wombat wrote:well, its sc1 with new graph tbh, used to be main argument to not buy it. and, meh, needs good pcbtw, u got ownd ? :D
the 2v2s with my brother (played sc1 and sc2 since it came out) we mostly lost because i had no clue what to do late game.

Re: Starcraft 2
I can play terran and protoss alright but terran vs zerg especially I dont know what to do.
I wall in and have my ground units to defend, this way I can defend several waves of the zerg but eventually they will destroy everything and also my ground units.
Siege tanks for defence seem a bit useless and my air units get shot down pretty fast.
Yesterday i tried to attack with ground units but it didnt work, you cant hurt the damn zerg very much by guerilla tactic, destroying their economy or something.
Protoss seems much easier for me.

as protoss, survive until 2x upgraded colossus and move out, 99% of time you win

Mass gateway + Immortals is a lot of fun. I don't see immortals used much anymore tho. Always colossus. Colossus is great vs the little stuff, but immortals pack a good punch as long as you don't go too far with them.
And then a ghost EMP's your shit because your observer was off in the corner of the map having a smoke break. I hate mondays.

SC2 has epic: Graphics, GUI, AI, Cinematics, Dialogue, Units, Sound - But Spring still prevails in the most important factor ... Gameplay!

Re: Starcraft 2
You attacking your enemy at all? Terran can't compete with zerg in a straight up eco contest, because zerg larva means the zerg can potentially waaay outproduce terrans in worker count. On the other hand, he also needs that larva for making attack units. Each attack unit you force him to make is one less drone, and zerg attack units are pretty weak for their larva cost early game. So I would recommend getting out a few helions or reapers asap for some harass. Walling in will do nothing but get you killed in the long run.Machete234 wrote:I can play terran and protoss alright but terran vs zerg especially I dont know what to do.

SC2 does have a very pretty gui, but it is sooo wasteful on pixels, and has no customizability. I would still take spring's gui any day.Jazcash wrote:SC2 has epic: Graphics, GUI, AI, Cinematics, Dialogue, Units, Sound - But Spring still prevails in the most important factor ... Gameplay!

So you say I should harass early with helions, like destroying the drones?luckywaldo7 wrote: You attacking your enemy at all? Terran can't compete with zerg in a straight up eco contest, because zerg larva means the zerg can potentially waaay outproduce terrans in worker count.
With protoss I never have any problems.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:as protoss, survive until 2x upgraded colossus and move out, 99% of time you win
I can also expand like crazy because your drone isnt occupied when building.

Re: Starcraft 2
zerg vs terran economy is a bit misleading, because with mules terran 1 base can outproduce zerg 2 base in minerals.

Mules are roughly the same as 4 workers, and command center energy recharges about fast enough to always have a mule running (without any scans), and take up no space on the patches. So you can consider that ability to be 4 extra workers on a seperate patch, which hardly equals some decent saturation on a second expansion.

You must construct additional pylons!

Re: Starcraft 2
yes, but the orbital command is a very small expenditure compared to an expansion + drones- allowing for significant terran harassment or expand & timing attack- while a zerg expansion is subject to raiding & rushes. like idra says: other players are smart, they dont play zergluckywaldo7 wrote:Mules are roughly the same as 4 workers, and command center energy recharges about fast enough to always have a mule running (without any scans), and take up no space on the patches.
