Was watching a few CA matches and got inspired to make a rocko replacement.

The long launcher is so the metal part on the front looks like a hand, when walking it'll point downwards and the part is dragged over the ground, looking like its knuckles. Figured that'd go well with the hunched look arising from the open top loading mechanism (the launcher slides open and a missile is moved from the hatch on the hunch to the launcher).

A very nice design... but it looks a lot like the Morty - you sure they're going to be easy enough to tell apart?

For one thing it's arm, not core :P
It'll also point the launcher downwards when not attacking, gives a different stance. I think a different color scheme will also help, the launcher and Zaku-shield will be TC instead of yellow camo and it doesn't have a backpack like the morty. Plus it's righthanded instead of lefthanded :P

Smoth, re: your hangar, when doing lights, I find it helpful to fake a bit of residual glow around the lit unit. I find it makes for a much more realistic effect (which potentially might run against what you're trying to achieve).

What I do is, I'll paint the light, and then put the light as near-white on the glow map. Then, I grab my brush and put it's opacity very low (~5-10% in PS), and the size of the brush quite large comparative to the light. I'll click once, then reduce the size of my brush, then click again, then reduce the size of my brush, then repeat until I have a nice glow gradient around the light.

Two examples:

It can be quite subtle I think.

I actually first thought to do it when I saw the same technique being utilised on the aeon commander from supcom:

(It's a little more obvious in-game with a lower detail texture. The effect is very nice)

Well I don't like it - as it already was said it's too much of a Morty and it also is totally different from the original Rocko design (not that this fact is bad) which I liked much more. While the main body is good I hate that long barrel and the knuckles-idea - especially as he would have only one on his right which makes it very strange. Not only that as rocket K-Bot he wouldn't need that barrel but with only one knuckle it is somewhat stupid imo although it would make him sprint around in Dr. House style what isn't as cool when used on a robot. If you want to give him an ape like behaviour look at the MAGILLA where you have two knuckes and an ape like movement... :-)

In addition to that it's also unfortunate that its back looks like its front. If there wouldn't be the gun pointing the wrong way and the feet turned around I'd probably have seen the right version as the front view at first sight...

Gah, took me long enough. Not the actual texturing, just getting myself to work on it.

Very nice KDR!

If I could change anything, I'd probably adjust the glass, as the way you've done it there isn't really doing it for me. It could look nice with high reflectivity and specularity though. Otherwise, perhaps some residual glow around the engines?

it looks cool. is there going to be a cockpit structure texture added to the glass or will it be a single glass piece?

It kinda reminds a bit of my first cardboard peewee.

A jet fighter like cockpit should be easy to add and would break that green blob a bit up, but it looks nice anyway.

I see it fine and I am almost most assuredly not logged into his forums, as I'm 99% certain I never got an account there...
