it appears we have come back to square one. Aside from adding the mushroom cloud (or lusch tree, I can't help but see that as well) and the monkey wrench, nothing changed from the current logo.

The problem with a design like corbeaus or the others, or neuralizes logos or your arguements that spring needs to be reprresented in tis logo with flowers coutnryside because of the spring season theme is that it's all based on a huge flaw.

Spring is called Spring nto as in "spring summer fall" but "spring forward!", have you not read the words of SJ explaining the origin of the name spring?

A kbot springing forward from a platform would be much more in tune with the name than a pansy in a field of trees.

The name was (somehow) decided(liked) by us aswell, and the interpretations are personal. most than one got season related approach.

Firstly, the first one looks to similair to TA with its background, ti doesnt reflect spring, just AA/XTA/OTA more specifically.

The bottom one was rejected, and it remidns me of trains and wales and leaflets.....

Neuralizes work si artwork, not logowork, can you put a version fo that on a piece of paper quickly? On a watch? mug? shirt? in black and white? at low res? blown up on a billboard? animate it? Is ti easier to recognise than what moth3r has put forward?

Neuralize ahs not said anythign about putting those designs forward as a logo and site redesign or game GUI, unlike moth3r who is in the process of doing the lot, a porfolio of stuff that is coherent, and covers every aspect ti would cover, proffesionally presented.

Unless Neuralize itnends on doing what moth3r is doing and says so i see no need for you to be putting what atm is fan-art in this thread.

And in the mean time realize it's not your logo he's designing, it's the spring engine so it isn't you he needs to please, so everyone stop acting that way.

Well, I think the site designs put forward by moth3r looks quite nice, and I'm considering to let him go ahead and create something that we can use to give the site a makeover.

Not sure what should be done with the logo though. I guess one problem is that the project name is not completely clear.. We use spring, taspring, springrts, etc. pretty interchangeably. :) There is a very well known open source project called Spring also, so it might be good to finalize something like "x spring" or "spring x". That project doesn't really have anything to with games or so, but it could perhaps be a consideration.

Spring RTS makes the most sense to me, considering that RTS development is the point of the project.

I liked the name 'Spring Epic Engine' that someone posted once. Sounds cool but its kind of long.

ywan.... rather tired, but as he said, dont post spam, post meaning.
I was thinking somthing more like this. Just my personal opinion. Plus it streches.

EDIT: BTW that was just rough... one of the images on teh top right is "slightly" of colour as I just used the one from teh other side, and obviolsy the middle image prob needs to be handled better.

I must admit, i admire that name "Epic engine" but without word Spring. it is best representation what game engine is capable of. I am sure all of you agree on these theory.. but it will conduct the new name of project and from this goes another long story.

PS: + http://www.epicgames.com etc.

Hmm, without wishing to further inflame things; I actually really like the current site design. It is simple, straight forward and easy on the eyes. It isn't whiz-bang, but it doesn't need to be - it accomplishes everything it needs to very efficiently.

aGorm, in your design, the picture takes up WAY to much space. Something like the current header is fine. The fact that it stretches is great.

Warlord, this current design is alright, but does not stretch at all. That means that any picture larger than about 700px will screw up the layout.

Well, the image can be changed easily. It was more the idea behind the design. Plus... due to my rather large monitor, I have a habit of making images like taht to big, and It was so late i didn't bother checking on smaller resolutions...

I'll knock up a more consise version later (today maybe)

::EDIT:: I was actully thinking maybe for teh home page have a large image, and on teh rest just a small one, and on te hmessage bord none (more room for messages...)

It's locked ratio and it breaks when you put a forum in it. If it could be fixed that would be another issue but it isn't the best solution.

moth3r, I really like your latest logos, but more then ever I think that the current logo is perfect for spring. The empty internal space is an asset for an engine to have, that way mods can create thier own logos internalized in the overall spring logo, much like you did with the mushroom cloud and monkey wrench. HL and HL2 had this dynamic to the logo and it made mod logoing very streamlined and knowticable.

Since spring has alot of mods and alot more spring mods will be made I think the very simple overall logo with lots of internal space is just perfect plus some. It leaves lots of room for people building engine content to use the logo as an external for thier own personalized logos.
