I wasn't being an asshole. That was an actual question...
You think that's bad? Maybe you should pay attention to the threads when I post a map release. I have a few people that just try to annoy me repeatedly.
At any rate... My reply was not mean. It's annoying to have posts like this cluttering H&B instead of in the mods forum where it belongs.
This wasn't mod-related, and any modder would know that from the initial description. He asked a question, I posted the reason it was happening, problem solved. It's a Help and Bugs forum.

You don't think you're being a wee bit sensitive do you? This was said in response to 1 post, and the post wasn't made by a spring staff member. It's a wee bit melodramatic in my opinion...
I see this all the time also, using VLRPC on speedmetal. I get it in XTA and AA (haven't tried any other mods.) I've found multiple causes...
I'm using fire on ground so it's not LOS/radar in my case.
Cause 1: Put a large object in front and it will refuse to fire over (unless you use high trajectory.) This even works with large objects in the flight path - I've had Vulcans stop firing because of krog wreckage one or two screens away... (i.e. objects that often wouldn't actually block the shot)
Cause 2: Object too near - put your cannons adjacent to each other and some of them will refuse to fire (even though not in the way.) Same as nuke issue where you forget to put a small gap between the silos.
Cause 3: Possibly, jagged terrain is causing issues - the spiky terrain in the gaps on Speedmetal may be getting in the way in some cases (usually if you fire in a path that will carry the shot along the causeway the cannon will fire, but often will not fire over the 'mini mountains'
Regarding 3, oddly, this seems to be more of a problem firing from the back of the circle, to the front.
And I've had problems I can't explain... :/
I hadn't heard of this arrow-key firemode issue before, but I don't think that's it in my case as I check the firemodes pretty often (and I'm manually targetting anyway.)
I don't have any issues with the arrow keys; I don't even use mouse scrolling anymore so it must be a problem on some peoples computers only. What I have had issues with is with my media keyboard. I like to have my music in the background, and I use my media keyboard to control windows media player in the background. The issue is that the next song/last song buttons on my keyboard switch fire mode and the play/pause button changes movement modes.
