could ATi's be glitchy

Post by Vozzz »

Hey peoples,

Once again me. This is on behalf of my brother.

See his pc for some reason tends to crash while playing TAspring and TA. Just randomly poof. Dosn't happen in any other games. Ofcourse there is the possibility that he jus tgets excited and kicks it, he's 10. But we'll say it dosn't happen...

Ussually the screen just goes black. Once though the screen went balck and then went back to windows. And there was some error from ATi.

Anyone else have this problem. Oh yeah and my friends pc did that a few times during a games too, he has a 9600, while my bro has an x800.

Thanks.

My TA Spring experiance is quite stable and I have a Radeon 9800 pro... I know that there are a few ATI related glitches but they are experianced far and few between for the most part.

Actaully, My ATI card is as glitchy as hell. X1600 refuse to do dynamic water, And I can't alt tab on pain of crashing. On larger maps, Textures begin to piss up, And forcing causes my pc to BSOD, with the error blamed on ATI.

check his memory... maybe that's messed up? Prime95 is a good stress testing utility...

I've yet to see TA Spring crash because of my ATI card. It does give me alt-tab problems though (alt-tab works, but I get disconnected from multiplayer games)

It might be the AI crashing, you having outdated drivers, you having an outdated ATI graphic card and lots of other things.

I have an X800 XL which gives me zero problems (apart from the purple icon bug thingy). My brother's machine has a 9800XT which appeared to be causing problems, but turned out to be his OC'd processor overheating. Both machines are perfectly stable in Spring now.

my x800 GTO has a little *trouble* with the shadows (dynamic water shouldn't be expected either) and tends to bum out if i try to alt-tab...aside form that it's fine!

My 9600 seems to be fine aside from the purple icon thingy.
But don't try with a laptop ATI card, I managed to get not only the purple icon bug but a new cyan icon bug. At the same time. Plus bad things happend with reflective units, as in the ground became colourful. The prettiest bug has got to be the treadmarks. The treadmarks from units left a trail of blue dots instead of trails. These blue dots looked more like slime than treadmarks

With a laptop ATI card and the omega drivers, I got a total lack of text in the build menu. Ran pretty well otherwise though.
