Read that again, because there is part of the problem. It takes a good week of on-off playing to actually be able to devour someone most of the time, and another week ontop of that to learn what things are likely to block you.

No, I'm saying that when I look at the classes at the competitive level that 1 onos never can kill 4 HMG, but 1 fade can. A masterful fade is more valuable then a masterful onos, and a crappy fade can be soloed by a single LMG player. The fade is a high skill class, with no skill it's useless and with tonnes of skill it's incredibly, the onos is not, with low skill it can still pound LMGs, and no matter how much skill you have an onos can't kill more then 2 good HMG's playing the game properly. The only way 1 onos can kill 4 HMG in the same location is if the HMG make some fatal mistake, yet I've seen fades do it before with a little patience in competitive games.Drone_Fragger wrote:So you thik it takes no skill to kill 4 marines with HMG as an onos?SwiftSpear wrote:Mostly the onos, it's a totally skilless class that is impossible to balance between combat mode and NS mode because of it's nature. The way the onos is built weakens the game's competitive playability because it's virtually unusable for several reasons.Drone_Fragger wrote:SI is fun, if theres enough people.
Whats this huge NS problem? Onoes, Lerk spores? And TS is good, Dual Pistols + Katana ftw.
The second big problem is the game's utter dependance on the second hive. If aliens can't get the second hive up within 8 minutes they lose, period, if marines can't get the second hive down within ten minutes their chances of winning plummet to virtually nonexistant. It takes the game and makes the whole thing ammount to a 2 minute period of time.
RFK is also a problem. It's bad enough that the game in it's RTS nature favors people who make more kills because they can take more ground, the game really doesn't need the mechanic of a single marine spawncamping the hive to bank an upgrade or a pair of shotties for the next spawning wave of marines. Similarly the 3 minute fade is just lame as you can't afford the counters yet as a marine.
What I want to know is why people say "LOL ONOS NO KSILL NUBLET" When it obviously does take skill. It takes a good week of on-off playing to actually be able to devour someone most of the time, and another week ontop of that to learn what things are likely to block you. Also, I see more noobs going fade or staying as skulk than anything else.
Take 4 HMG's that a skilled onos can manage to kill alone and I could probably take them all out alone as a lerk. They would have to be bad HMG's to die to a single onos.
Onos aren't used in competitive play until the marines are sealed into thier base by fades, and the only reason the onos is needed in that case is to soak up HMG bullets so your fades can kill the most dangerous marines without concentrated fire on them. They might be used if they cost 50, but they aren't worth as much as a fade to a good team.
