There were parts that were a lot smoother than other parts. That inconsistency makes it clear that it was a slowdown in initial game rendering.Pocus wrote:good points, but on the frame rate and the fraps disclaimer, this is because (I think) that Fraps on free version (what he have) is limited in FPS.
Spring Showcase II - Return of the Beefs!

I like it a lot.
The desert shot with the EE units was quite nice ^.^
Also the dynamic shot with the comm and tree freming the batth.e and nuke launching behind the hills. And the Cabbage with groud decals scored it ^.^
(but for the love opf all kinds of holi thingies we keep on our desk: please refrain from unsing wmv. It's terrifiering and does little justice to your great showcase.)

I like the shot of the bertha shell hitting the moho geo, it exploding, the one next to it exploding and the comm next to that one exploding.
I wonder who that player was, Ive never seen a bertha used so well, It was just like poetry in motion...that guy is obviously a spring god in the making. ^^
the rest of the video was awesome too :)

Secondly, thanks to those who have decided stick it up on other websites
Also, i know there are a few problems with it, i didnt get to do all the stuff i wanted, and i agree the transitions were a bit much. Some of the effects i added were put in simply to hide some really ugly features or other problems (the really blurry bit showing FF was made blury because i captured the footage from a replay someone had sent me, which was a bit jerky/slow :S
The transitions are alot more bearable on the high quality version i rendred, not artifacting or anything like that, much higher resolution
if anyone has an idea where i can post it (190MB) don't hesitate to tell me:P

Trust me i have a beefier computer than most (athlon x-2 duel core 4.4ghz, 7800GTX etc..) my average framerate mid game is around 7oish FPS, hundreds of units, all effects on etc. There were however some parts which had a slowdown in FPS (nanoblobs) and i didnt know why, but eventualy i found out that i had put forced sytem Anti Aliasing on full, which really dragged it down ^^, Anyother slowdown is purely due to the capture method i used or rendering the video.I think it'd be better if people with beefier computers captured the video and you just handled the editing.

Started off intense, just bombarding the senses with Springy goodness. The unfocusing chemical transitions made my eyes water though; as a short-sighted person I'm all too familiar with poor focus.
It fizzled off a bit towards the end. It started on a high and then climbed down, you'd have been better off showing the long shots to start and then building to a frenzy at the end. Also simpler transitions would have actually added to it, they are my biggest problem with this, leaving me with a strong desire to press my eyeballs until the afterimages have gone. Ugh.
That said it was still a very good example of amatuer video making. Don't unfocus so much and keep your transitions free of those terrible, terrible clashing colours next time, and build up rather than down.
Overall I like it, an easy 7/10, but it could have been better.
Okay, that's my opinion... Feedback?
