What the hell happened to AA brawlers?

Post by Dragon45 »

I just started playing Spring again after about four months or so, and all of a sudden I see that AA has turned into XTA, with Brawlers that are powerful as fuck o_O

What gives mate?

<btw before you bring it up: I won the game in which I got brawler raped, so I know what I'm doing>

they are ok. Even 1 long range AA can kill 10 of them in 1 shot. If anything, they are allmost useless for attacking late game (good for defence though)

They're powerful? I find that hard to swallow... any L2 AA or well-placed L1 can finish them.

The Long Range Missle Towers definately own them badly.

Brawlers are weird. If you have insufficient AA, they will destroy you. If you have good early-to-mid-game AA - a bunch of well-placed MTs, maybe an anti-bomber turret, and a few fighters - you should be able to beat off the 5 or so your opponent can build. As soon as you get a flak cannon up, they become so much cannon fodder.

lol. or 1/3 its cost in defenders or 1/4 its cost in flak!
LRMT are ONLY for getting your enemies patrols or stopping him building planes completely (fun, every time so much as he starts getting a plane SMASH in comes the missiel and damages the plant too :D)

IMO we should carry the AA discussion to the AA site, which has a forum, so each issue/idea/problem/fanboy/fangirl/whatever can have it's own thread

Why not create an AA sub-forum on these boards?

Becouse that would mean there will be a subforum for every single mod. And that might be the signal for a subforum for every AI and I want one for GUI and etc. etc.

And would it actually be that big of an inconvenience? I have a lot of experience with PHPBB. It's like three clicks and type the new forum's name, and voila, it's all set up. There could be three high-level categories set up: Spring, Mods, and AIs. Literally less than five minutes is what it'd take to set them all up. No additional load necessary on the moderators either, since they'd each be moderated by their own people.

The reason I'm not saying "move to the aa forum!" is because I don't know how much longer it'll be there. Pretty soon I'll be cutting off ties with Gamespy and I don't know if they'll leave the forum there as an oversight or they'll axe it as well.
