I dont know how hard this would be to implement but I think it would be vastly useful if we could have more control over how gunships act and attack targets this comes in a couple of varieties of control:
Id like to be able to specify somehow as to how much of a circle motion they make when attacking a ground target, atm they go full 360 around it Id like to make it so they only take say a 30 degree slice fo the pie if you will attacking back and forth any angle would be helpful.
also Id like it if it was possible to have it so they didnt move at all when attacking but instead just sat there ala starcraft and fired away either by specifying a very small angle or having another tag entirely.
Atm these are the only 2 things I can think of..

Can we also make gunships act like normal aircraft instead of what they are now? Normal aircraft are affected by gravity, and are not going down because they've got lift - or thrust and momentum when flying up. What if we just remove this "lift" entirely for gunships (or make it moddable), and instead make them fly on thrust alone? I mean so that when they are attacking they slow down, but do not land, and "applu vertical thrust" to keep them in the air. The difference? For one, they wouldn't form so tightly packed clouds. Also, they would look a lot more natural - AND they would be able to chase aircraft effectively. A Harrier can do it, why can't our units? Spaceships, on the other hand, should have this MyGravity setting that allows the unit to override any map gravity conditions, to allow free movement.
Also, this would make gunships also fall to the ground when shot down, not explode in midair.
