Morale
This would be pretty easy to put in IMO
simply make it alike to paralysing, (make the health bar go black/purple/red or something) make the weapons invisible (on fear causing units) and give other weapons a amount of 'fear damage' they do (with a wide AoE) with each weapon
Could make Spring a bit more interesting (mods are currently carbon copies at the moment)
Is this as easy to do as i think it is?
(i'm of course voting i don't know :D)

I don't think 'fear' fits with the whole idea of robots. it works in games like Total War, where there are units designed to simply rout your enemies, and were retreating can really hurt an army. Maybe as part of a mod, but in the general Spring engine I don't think this would really work well, IMO.

Rule number 1 when posting a "awesome feature" thread: It's NEVER easy to implent.
But yea, it could be usefull. but that will proably happen when Spring makes your computer grow wings and travel to the MOON!

Thats what I meant when I said part of a mod, but not a part of the entire engine.Aun wrote:Who said it was for XTA/AA? The point is you can't really 'mod' it into the game, you need it to be part of the engine that mods can use.
At it's most basic level you need a moral value that recharges over time but is reduced by damage. Once it hit's zero the unit stops listening to orders and moves away from the enemy (and perhaps it's accuracy is reduced).
You could then add thing's like 'reduced by being under fire' and 'friends damaged/under fire' and then by how outnumbered the unit is. If you can factor in pinning then you've pretty much simulated psychology.

and said value would have to be specified by the modder... there can also be a boosted morale thing, for captains or something, which is the opposite of the 0 effect; it would act as if it was 1 higher experienced (so a unit that has dealt no damage would act like it was at 1 experience or something)
this can also be edited by the modder, and would not be stackable (100 captains?
