When i say big....
When i say big map i want a BIG god dammned map! Iv plated Real Earth (great map that one) and was wondering if we could have BIGGER maps. THat way you could detail the maps even more, or build fractal planets useing Mojo World (my aunt is building that so buy it!). Whit fractal planets you dont need to worry about the whole "i can see my huge commander on the horision" because Fractal Planets ARE BIG! REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY REALY god dammed big

Yes they werent big enough! I want to fight on Ringworld (the Larry Niven one not the Halo one). I want to devestate planets surfaces and destroy bio-shpres. I want to glass planets, useing nukes to steirlize the surface! I want to detonate a chain of underwater fusion reactoys to creat tsuinamies that can obilterate the enemy! I want to not just destroy the enemy. I want to kill their civilians, destroy their citys and sow their ground with salt! I want to blacken their sky and burn their air! I want to erase their name from history, and eradicate their ideologys and technologys. I want to Totaly Anhillate them! I WANT TO RULE THE WORLD!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I want to destroy Rama, i want to obliterate Mar's surface. I want to level Core prime, and eriadicate the Death Star! I want to burn Endor and bomb Narn back into the stone age (agian). I want to glass Epsilon Eridani and shatter Yellow stone. I want to crack Chasem City and implode Jupiter (and its moons). I want to feed SOL into a black hole and detonate anti-matter in on the surface of Saturn, igniting it for a brife time to create a secont sun. I want to detonate suns to spell out my name in the stars for centuires to come. Then i will proceid to detonate a quasar bomb (it has the effect of a hundread million quasars) in the center of the galaxi, sucking whats left of it into a massive vortex of black holes. I want to use hyperspace to confound my enemies and i would also kill Arakis if it wasent the secret to traveling faster then light. I want to crush the Harkonnen and sick my Sadukar on the denins of both the CORE and the ARM. I want to finaly end my xenoxide with feeding a black hole into another black hole by slamming them together a demi-light speed velocity's just for the hell of it! I would then return to Earth, and transport it to a new solar system (seeing as how i destroyed the sun, Jupiter and Saturn) Then build a massive star spanning empire. Now...once this is all well and done i will do something i have never done before. Have a nice cup of tea.
PS: A shinny penny to anyone who can name the different Sifi Books, novels and assorted parifinalia i had ripped most (no wait, all) of the locations from. Some are obvious, others are a little more difficult to get. Unles you read anything by Alister Rynolds...

Zoombie, that was a beautiful rant. I want to watch you do all that, it would make a great show.
And beyond whats been said, I have no idea where any of that came from. Well, I speculate Hyperspace from Homeworld. And I guess they didn't actually say TA. And Epsilon Eridani (Lite Horse!) makes me think Battletech universe (I loved Mechwarrior 3...). And I'll say Chronicles of Riddick just because!

@Zombie ...Do you will to buy a new PC? I don't think 256*256 (16 times bigger than Seven Island) map could be rather playable...cause we don't have tiles like TA.
Yeah, you will have to buy a pc 64 bits and 8 go of ram :)
edit : even with tile, seven island take 64 mo...16 times bigger mean 1024mo of ram.
edit2 : Hum Seven Island is 40*40, not 64*64 sorry

meh, zoombie, the mechanics of TA is highly dependant on the map size. Tiny maps play very differently from very huge maps. Of course 64X64 being the largest I think, with spring the idea of doubling that or even further makes for a very big change in game play.
I am thinking that you wouldn├óÔé¼Ôäót be able to play a good matched game at such huge immense sizes TA style without suffering from information overload and needing an AI helper. Thus you could win by simply attacking many points all at once and leaving the enemy bamboozled, and unable to cope

Or you could just set it to 5000 unit cap and set up a half dozen self-sufficient secondary bases all over the place.Which just made me decide to make myself a new epic map...
For most of TA's playstyles, even maps over 25x25 are to big. But there is something to be said for playing on a massive map that has a strange resemblence to planet earth. Big maps cause lots of porcing, but porcing causes lots of explosions, and there are times you want to watch lots of explosions for a long time.
However, its entirelly a matter of opinion. And I doubt its even relevant. The only limit on anything in Spring is probably the power of the computers running it.

The last post where the answers if you havent gussed
We need room to expand! When you fight on BIG maps, it is more like a bunch o tiny battles allover the map, whitch is more like a planet. As alliences form and disslove, smaller players will die off and larger players and alliences of players will form super powers. Nukes will fly every where, blanketing the planet with ash and fallout. Hopefully after a massive apoctoliypic nuke war, the devistated remains of the players will have to fight the enemy through the rubble of the former bases. Also could the bases have more of a "city" feel for larger maps. This would reinfoce the idea of bigness and hugeness and epicness.
