Aircraft Explosions

Post by Sheekel »

Several of the videos show the follow-up aircraft view, and when the aircraft get destroyed i don't think the camera should automatically switch to a different view. I think when the plane gets annihilated the view should let you watch the explosion. Some people might not like this because it will interfere with the gameplay (waste of time..). I play TA to relieve my fragging needs, not rush through it. Maybe movement of the mouse would stop the follow-up mode, allowing you to watch from the same point of view?

Thoughts :?:

If your airplane is blown to bits, your camera stays where it was.
If your airplan is shot down, you go down spinning with it, and can still fire until you hit the ground.
It was fun to watch a falling starbomber shoot down the fighter that got him in TAFF.

In OTA your planes kept working until they exploded. Does this mean that now planes fall out of the sky when they're in the red?

It seems that when the plane 'dies', it gets a full life again, but starts falling from the sky, unable to do anything (unless it has turrets that can fire backwards at the enemy). If it is hit hard enough, both 'lives' are used up at once, and the plane just explodes.

Really interesting... Does the falling plane cause damage on the ground too?

I believe so: I seem to recall a tie fighter deforming the terrain as it hit the ground in a movie, meaning that they do deal damage.

Correction: the plane only gets half of its original life back, and only if it was a fighter type craft. Gunships are destroyed instantly.

And yes, the falling planes do deal damage. I think even the exploding bits that fly off from exploding things deal damage and light up trees.
