Not at home atm so will be brief - i've already got a couple of ideas for the music im going to use, the most likely is a remix of voodoo people by the prodigy. It's not metal, but i think those of you who do like that kind of music will enjoy it
Its a little faster than the original, more drums etc :D

dragging us away from audio for a minute:
YOU NEED TO SHOW OFF THE DYNAMIC WATER!
Also everything else like shadows (saw you had those though), sky, etc etc
Seriously, the person taking the screencaps needs to be able to run with everything on. If you can't do that, get someone to take the shots for you and then give them to you for editing...
Spring does have some awesome graphics at times (though closeups are not generally a good idea), so lets show them to the world eh?

Doesn't matter if people can't run it, the point is that it will attract people. 90% of gamers can't run games on the ultra high settings that the trailers are shown in, but that doesn't stop people running out ot get them.
And, yeuch, metal, rock, any of that simply doesn't suit Spring. It's too "we're disenfranchised teens or gen Xers".
It has to be orchestral. TA's music is perfect, or anything by Wagner, John Williams, or even the Shogun/Homeworld soundtracks.

Sorry but thats a bit silly, I like rock and some metal and im not a "disenfranchised teen or gen Xer".Warlord Zsinj wrote:Doesn't matter if people can't run it, the point is that it will attract people. 90% of gamers can't run games on the ultra high settings that the trailers are shown in, but that doesn't stop people running out ot get them.

And id say that for most people who like rock or metal,
but lets not turn this into a musical flame war, its up to cabbage is his video ^^
I do agree though that TA the music in his original video was pretty much perfect anyway, as much as id love to have acdc blasting out, id prob stick with the ta stuff, and maybe change the music to something else for non ta mods, something metally would suit gundam or ee maybe
Guess all game marketing companies in the world are idiots for putting up teasers/screenies/videos on the max settings then...j5mello wrote:honestly i don't think the dynamic water needs to be shown that much. i would say like 85% of the players can't use it.
the biggest thing i would say is showcasing all the mods and just general gamplay.
"Oh look at UT2k7 it looks UBER AMAZING! But since i might not be able to run it id prefer they made the video on the absolute lowest settings with huge fps lag so it looks crappy like it would on my PC. Yeah, that would make me more likely to get it!"

Eyecandy is always good if you want more players. Showing a 20 min long video of successfuly executed sieges with the combined use of 50 types of units in all mods with low settings will bore the tits off anyone watching, unlike a fast action packed teaser with good music and max settings.
Players always claim gameplay comes before graphics, and deny otherwise, but what makes 90% of the people buy games are the graphics and gameplay is only what makes people keep on playing it. Thus by monkey logic we want a vid showing graphics so players get spring and then the good gameplay can keep them here.
lol, I can verify this. If I were to take my mod and make it look like battle tech that audience would flock to the mod even though it would be gundam with a different LOOK. The look of a game/mod is important when trying to draw an audience.krogothe wrote:Players always claim gameplay comes before graphics, and deny otherwise, but what makes 90% of the people buy games are the graphics and gameplay is only what makes people keep on playing it. However, I can say it is quite underwhelming when only 5% of the market can have the pretty graphics promised by the video. This is where it is important to NOT over hype features like the dynamic water.

No, this version of Voodoo people is made by the a group called Pendulum (probably not known outside the U.K.).yOu mean the one from "Hackers"

If you look at the few bits in the video which have water, you'll see that dynamic water was on, i ALWAYS run spring with every setting on full. I've got a 4.4ghz athlon64 x-2 duel core, and a 7800GTX, running spring on full detail is not a problem for me. If you couldnt seethe dynamic water, the only thing i can attribute that too is perhaps the rendering quality of the video its self.Seriously, the person taking the screencaps needs to be able to run with everything on. Right... I saw the movie and liked it, quite a bit actually.
But I have one thing to say about Later versions:
No C.R.A.P (Country, Rap and Pop). Why? Cause A) Orchestral music is what made TA's sound track great (no techno!) and B) TA's music is just plain cool. Its one of the best soundtracks ever, after all.
But that is just me.

For all you skeptics out there <glares as Das Bruce>, behold! I give you a little taster as to how things might turn out!
And don't worry, there wont be any silly ye olde black and white scenes... probably
oh, and the music dosent get going 100% until, about 58 seconds in (i haven't left that much on there). Its quite fast paced so should work well for a action trailer

Edit: Should hopefully make alot of progress today, nothing else to do unless i fall asleep
