is it the whole film? Or just, like, sections of it?

Cos IMAX generally don't do huge long showings..

They are showing the whole film at imax but sadly just 20 about minutes of it as 3D, but IMAX3D uses double projection/polarized light technology, same as the 3D movies at epcot/MGM/Disney... so it's full colour not red/blue overlay...

The thing is that, whoever the producer of King Kong was... peter jackson? anyways I read it in a magazine... that in order to conteract piracy the movie studios are going to try to move towards 3D movies to give added incentive to people to go to the movies instead of waiting for the DVD and/or pirating it.

No way! You mean they're actually saying "people aren't willing to pay for our product = sue them" anymore, Sinbad? Astounding. Now we just need the RIAA to realize a CD with one good song isn't worth $15.

Imax screens can support normal films. I saw batman begins on an imax screen.

Usually IMAX films have to be specifically filmed at imax quality (imax frames are like, 10 times bigger then standard film stock) to really take advantage of IMAX... but yeah, there are quite a few imax films out now... and they seem to be getting more common, and I think the ant bully will be imax3D too... I just found out my local imax theater can't show IMAX 3D, so very dissapointed :'(
