I think that the game would have roughly the same performance it has now even if every units polycount would be doubled. The bottleneck in the engine is not the unit/polygon rendering but pathfinding and los iirc !

But this flea is 630 tris, rather then the 100 tris of the old one.
Since this is a unit to be spawned a lot. 100 flea's isn't very odd to see.
And if it were to be 1300 tris (as the first, unoptimised, was) you will notice the high poli count. Trust me.
You won't have to hold back with unique or big units.
Like smoth's white base or the core silencer I've made.
Actually, locally seeing, the texture is currenly a slight problem, becouse they are not preloaded.
