It's played more than any map period. No if you would read you would realize why I said that. Steve, stop being a tard. It's not about jealousy. No REAL map maker would ever make a speed metal map. It's a total insult to those of us who spend 15 hours in one sitting on one map just to make sure it's perfect, and then spend 20 more hours making sure everything else is right.BigSteve wrote:Why? because its more played than any of your maps put together?Forboding Angel wrote:Not to mention that speed metal is an insult to mappers in general.

Because i lacks a real texture. Is super deformable (assuming youa re playing SP2, took prolly about 5 minutes to make.
Hell I could make a speedmetal map in about 3 minutes. It's an insult to any mapper who actually tries to make a good map.
What the heck are you talking about? I perfectly understand that some people enjoy it better. That doesn't make it any less of an insult to mapping in general.BigSteve wrote:No, I read the whole thread, I just cant undersatnd how that map is insulting to you thats all.
Fine you spend 20 hours making a map... well done, just because you spend that much time on a map doesnt means its better than speedmetal does it?
Just because I disagree with you doesn't make me an asshole either.

What the heck does it matter... people have fun playing it, why cant you get your head round the fact some people may prefer a map like this?
Dust wasn't the first CS map... CS mode was developed long before de mode. I belive dust was the the de mode test map, but it was made by one of the fulltime mappers on the CS team at that point, so it's not really fair to call it a testmap.Rudirogdt wrote:well there are maps who look great but aren´t really playable...
than there are maps who just give a border where you have to go and are great...
look at de_dust from counterstrike. its purpose was just a testmap for a game which wasn´t released yet. but look at it lots of people like and play that map.
others like i don´t know maybe produced for a mapping contest haven´t been played at for longer than an hour...
:)
I still cant understand how thats an insult to mapping ^^SwiftSpear wrote:Mapping insults itself: A map like speedmetal proves that it isn't nessicarily about sitting the most amount of hours or crafting the most complex heightmap, sometimes you can get a great map simply by lucking out on an addictive gameplay scenario. Hell, blizzard has been making millions on that forumla for years.
i have not said that it was the first map for counterstike.SwiftSpear wrote:Dust wasn't the first CS map... CS mode was developed long before de mode. I get what you're coming at though, although I'd put it more akin to CS_iceworld. The map is just terribly made, I could put it together in a matter of minutes, yet it's one of the most played maps because it has a simplistic and addictive gameplay style.
